Patent number: 8013228Abstract: A musical instrument comprises a keyboard assembly including juxtaposed keys and juxtaposed swing weight mechanisms, each of the keys correspondingly linked with each of the swing weight mechanisms. The keyboard assembly is supported on a key bed having an aperture which is elongate in the direction of the key juxtaposition. Actuating members are provided corresponding to the respective swing weight mechanisms each of which in turn actuates each corresponding key. The actuating members are disposed in a lower yoke having a channel member and flanges integrally manufactured by bending a metal plate. The flanges are fastened to the key bed across and over the aperture so that the actuating members penetrate the aperture toward the swing weight mechanism. The height of the channel member determines a relative position between the actuating members and the swing weight mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2008Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventor: Motohide Shimizu

Patent number: 7915508Abstract: A keyboard assembly for playing music automatically comprises: a plurality of juxtaposed keys including white keys and black keys, each being supported swingable for depression and release thereof; a plurality of juxtaposed swing weights, each for each of the keys and each being supported swingable as interlocked with the corresponding key; and a plurality of actuator devices, each for each of the swing weights to actuate the swing weight, which in turn drives the interlocked key to swing to its depressed position. The actuator devices are arrayed alternately in two rows with the arraying pitch between the actuator devices for the adjacent swing weights made different from the arraying pitch between the swing weights so that the actuator devices for the keys of C through E can be disposed closer to the C end and the actuator devices for the keys of F through B can be disposed closer to the B end, thereby securing a fitting space between the E actuator device and the F actuator device.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2008Date of Patent: March 29, 2011Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventor: Motohide Shimizu

Patent number: 7897863Abstract: An electronic keyboard instrument comprises a storage device that stores automatic performance data including a first event for generating a musical tone and first timing data that defines a reproduction timing of the first event, a key-driving data generator that generates key-driving data including a second event corresponding to the first event included in the automatic performance data and second timing data that defines a reproduction timing of the second event and precedes the first timing data for a predetermined time, a keyboard that has a plurality of keys, a key driver that drives each of the plurality of keys in accordance with the key-driving data, a reproduction device that reproduces the automatic performance data and the key-driving data in parallel. The key-driving data generator generates the key-driving data before the reproduction device starts the reproduction. A reproduction process can be simplified even if keys are driven with the reproduction.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2008Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventors: Takashi Ikeda, Motohide Shimizu

Patent number: 7816598Abstract: An electronic keyboard musical instrument comprises a keyboard assembly including juxtaposed keys and juxtaposed swing weight mechanisms, each of the keys correspondingly linked with each of the swing weight mechanisms. Actuating members are provided corresponding to the respective swing weight mechanisms each of which in turn actuates each corresponding key. The actuating members are arranged in the vicinity of the fulcrum of the swing weight mechanisms and disposed in two rows as a front row and a rear row and extending downward through the key bed. The heights of the actuating members are made small. An actuator cover has a rearward descending slant wall so that the knees of the player will not be obstructed in depressing the pedals.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 2008Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: Yamaha CorporationInventors: Hideki Ishihara, Motohide Shimizu
