  • Publication number: 20090314872
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus detects that a fiber bundle is likely to break and prevents generation of defective products. The filament winding apparatus applies a prescribed winding tension to the fiber bundle unwound from a fiber bundle feeding package and winds the tension-applied fiber bundle around a mandrel. A tension applying portion applies the winding tension to the fiber bundle at a position that is immediately before a side of the mandrel between the fiber bundle package and the mandrel. A tension sensor detects the tension of the fiber bundle between the fiber bundle feeding package and the tension applying portion. A determination means determines a tension abnormality of the fiber bundle by comparing pre-set reference information with the tension measured value measured by the tension sensor.

  • Publication number: 20090126875
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus efficiently performs a helical winding process in which the winding angle of the fiber bundle differs. A helical winding head includes two guide rings, adjacently arranged along an axis center of the mandrel, and guide tubes arranged at equal intervals along a circumferential direction of the guide rings. The guide rings are switchable between a first state in which phase positions of the guide tubes are matched and a second state in which the phase positions of the guide tubes are evenly shifted in the circumferential direction by a phase switching structure. Tube exits of the guide tubes are arranged close in the first state.

  • Publication number: 20090127373
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus that efficiently and orderly winds a fiber bundle with respect to a mandrel in a short period of time. A supporting board supports the mandrel, and a helical winding head supplies and guides the fiber bundle towards the mandrel. The helical winding head includes a group of guide tubes radially arranged on a circumferential surface of a guide ring, and a tube operation mechanism that reciprocates the guide tube along a tube axis center direction. The guide tube is moved closer to a circumferential surface of the dome part when the guide tube is facing a dome part of the mandrel such that the distance between the winding position of the fiber bundle and the guide tube at the dome part can be reduced, and the fiber bundle is orderly wound according to an appropriate winding trajectory.

  • Publication number: 20090121728
Abstract: A resin impregnated amount measuring method and device for accurately and successively measuring an amount of resin impregnated in a fiber in a filament winding molding. An electrostatic capacitance of a fiber impregnated with resin is measured, and an amount of resin impregnated in the fiber is measured based on the measurement result. The fiber impregnated with resin is traveled in a non-contacting manner between two parallel flat plates of an electrostatic capacitance sensor and a change in electrostatic capacitance is measured. The amount of resin impregnated in the fiber may also be measured by irradiating light on the impregnated fiber to determine the image area of, reflectivity of, or distance of the light source from, the fiber.

  • Publication number: 20090107628
Abstract: A resin adhesion method and apparatus in an FW molding achieves high speed and facilitates maintenance. A resin is adhered to a fiber by injecting the resin towards a surface of the fiber through a droplet injection device including a plurality of base resin injection nozzles and curing agent injection nozzles. A traveling device travels the fiber with a predetermined opposing spacing with the nozzles. A first path includes a base resin tank that supplies the base resin to the droplet injection device. A second path includes a curing agent tank that supplies the curing agent to the droplet injection device.

  • Publication number: 20090065625
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus equipped with a transfer mechanism of a terminating end of a fiber bundle using a transfer ring that can be switched from a mandrel after the winding process to a mandrel before the winding process. A cutter cuts a fiber bundle wound around a first transfer ring integral with a mandrel after the winding process and a second transfer ring is moved to the mandrel before the winding process between the first and second transfer rings; and a friction roller positions and holds the second transfer ring when cutting the fiber bundle. The friction roller is pressed and biased against the second transfer ring by a compression spring.

  • Publication number: 20090065622
Abstract: A filament winding apparatus includes a hoop winding device and a helical winding device. The hoop winding device includes a disc-shaped wrapping table, a drive mechanism that rotatably drives the wrapping table, four bobbins supported along a peripheral edge of the wrapping table, and a guide member that moves and guides a fiber bundle fed from the bobbin to a mandrel arranged in an insertion hole of the wrapping table. The bobbin is axially supported in a freely rotatable manner with a chuck of a holder fixed to the wrapping table. A ratchet mechanism, which prevents over-rotation in a fiber bundle feeding direction of the bobbin, is arranged between the holder and the chuck.

  • Publication number: 20080197229
Abstract: Helical winding is reliably carried out in a plurality of patterns at different angles in a short period of time. A filament winding apparatus for winding fiber bundles onto the surface of a mandrel includes a helical winding head for use in helical winding of the fiber bundles onto the mandrel. The helical winding head includes at least two guide arrays, each including a plurality of guide portions disposed along a circumferential direction of the mandrel, and a repositioning mechanism capable of repositioning the guide portions by rotating each guide array relative to another.

  • Publication number: 20080196660
Abstract: The present invention provides a resin impregnating apparatus which enables a fiber feeding speed to be increased without increasing the size, complicatedness, or costs of the apparatus. A resin impregnating apparatus 1 impregnating fibers F with resin includes a block member 2 including a tapered passage 21 through which the fibers F pass and which is tapered toward a direction in which the fibers F pass, and a resin supply device 3 supplying the resin to the fibers F in the vicinity of an inlet of the tapered passage 21. As the fibers F pass through the tapered passage 21 carrying the supplied resin, the resin is pressurized by a wedge effect of the tapered passage 21 so that the fibers F are impregnated with the resin.
