  • Patent number: 10859958
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a printer, a controller configured to transmit a control signal to the printer to control the printer, a storage device including a volatile cache memory region and a non-volatile storage region, and a power control circuit. The power control circuit is configured to supply power from an external power source thereto to the printer and the controller, and supply auxiliary power stored therein when the power from the external power source is cut off. The controller includes a processor configured to, in case that the power from the external power source is cut off, instruct the storage device to transfer data from the volatile cache memory region to the non-volatile storage region, and then cause power supplied to the processor to be cut off.

  • Publication number: 20200028980
Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprises a housing, an input unit, a motor, and a controller. The input unit comprises an input section, a sensor configured to detect an object within an area facing the input section and output a signal in response to detection of an object within the area facing the input section, and a rotary coupling having an axis of rotation and connecting the input unit to the housing, such that the input unit is positionable by the swinging thereof along a path centered on the axis of rotation to position the input section to face two different directions. The motor is connected to the coupling, and the controller is configured to receive the signal from the sensor, and selectively control the motor to change the facing direction of the input section based on the value of the signal output by the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20190098145
Abstract: A display device includes a display, a first motor, an illuminance sensor, and a processor. The display displays information. The first motor changes a direction of a display surface of the display. The processor determines a first direction corresponding to a direction from a human sensor or the display surface to the eyes of the operator based on first sensing data output from the human sensor. The processor controls the first motor so that a normal direction of the display surface is the first direction when an illuminance of light incident from the first direction included in second sensing data output from the illuminance sensor is less than a first threshold. The processor controls the first motor so that the normal direction is a second direction different from the first direction when the illuminance of light incident from the first direction is the first threshold or more.

  • Patent number: 9894224
Abstract: According to an image forming apparatus of one embodiment, a business-type-based word database classifies and stores words for each business type. A business-type-based template database stores business-type-based templates in which plural icons to respectively invoke plural functions previously set for each business type are grouped. A word extraction unit extracts a word by analyzing character information included in print data. A coincidence number count unit compares the extracted word with the words stored in the business-type-based word database, and counts a coincidence number in a comparison result for each business type. A business type determination unit determines a business type of a user transmitting the print data based on the coincidence number. A template acquisition unit acquires a template relating to the determined business type of the user from the business-type-based template database. A display unit displays the acquired template on a screen.
