Patent number: 5202114Abstract: A gel composition or a nail polish comprising at least one cationic surfactant having a propylene oxide chain and/or an ethylene oxide chain, an organic modified clay mineral and a solvent. Addition of the specific cationic surfactant maintains the good thixotropy due to the organic modified clay mineral and restricts the change in viscosity with time and with a slight change in the content of the organic modified clay mineral to a very narrow range.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1990Date of Patent: April 13, 1993Assignee: Shiseido Company, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshiyuki Ogusu, Yoshikazu Soyama, Makoto Takahashi, Tooru Okamoto, Masaaki Ishiwatari, Motokiyo Nakano

Patent number: 4229227Abstract: Gel composition suitable for use in the preparation of nail enamel is provided. The gel composition contains a chip composition which is prepared by mixing, under heating and compression, organically modified montmorillonite clay, nitrocellulose, and a substance which is capable of swelling the montmorillonite clay and is capable of plasticizing the nitrocellulose. The thixotropic nail enamel prepared from this gel composition has the advantages that a pretty glossy film can be obtained and the gelling state thereof is stable.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1978Date of Patent: October 21, 1980Assignee: Shiseido Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshihide Ikeda, Motokiyo Nakano

Patent number: 4222908Abstract: Thixotropic nail enamel comprising, a gelling agent, a gel composition containing a chip composition which is prepared by mixing, under heating and compression, organically modified montmorillonite clay, nitrocellulose, and a substance which is capable of swelling the montmorillonite clay and is capable of plasticizing the nitrocellulose is provided. The thixotropic nail enamel has the advantages that the viscosity thereof does not increase with the lapse of time and the gelling state thereof is stable. This gel composition can also delete toluene and xylene, which must be contained in the conventional nail enamel, from the thixotropic nail enamel of the present invention.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1978Date of Patent: September 16, 1980Assignee: Shiseido Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshihide Ikeda, Toshiaki Kobayashi, Motokiyo Nakano, Chiaki Tanaka
