In the meantime, in order to suppress noise, rectifying plates for reducing an inflowing angle of air flowing into the fin tips of a heat exchanger are interposed between an axial fan and the heat exchanger for taking in the air from the axial fan for heat exchanging.

A front heat exchanger having a configuration in which an upper edge portion and a lower edge portion are respectively made to recede is disposed in an indoor unit. In addition, a rear heat exchanger separate from the front heat exchanger is disposed on the rear surface side of the front heat exchanger. Consequently, it is possible to increase the heat exchanging area in an indoor unit having the same height, and improve the heat exchanging capacity.

Abstract: An air conditioner includes bent portions provided at edge portions of a plurality of fins juxtaposed on a heat exchanger, respectively. Each bent portion is located at an edge portion which is near a cross flow fan and on the sides of said fin facing the cross flow fan and lying generally between the cross flow fan and a coolant pipe of the heat exchanger. The bent portions are formed by bending the edge portions so as to be in parallel to the coolant pipe and staggered along an axis parallel to the coolant pipe. Thereby, the noise during the operation of the cross flow of the air conditioner can be reduced.
