Abstract: Page description language data are imposed according to entered imposition information. The imposed page description language data are converted into raster-format data by an RIP process. Page data depending on a plurality of page areas are clipped from the raster-format data. The clipped page data are mapped onto respective model areas corresponding to the page areas on a determined three-dimensional shape model thereby to generate three-dimensional preview data of a print. A three-dimensional preview image of the print is displayed based on the three-dimensional preview data.

Abstract: A word for which a keyword is desired to be decided is input, and a web page related to the input word is found by a search. Keywords (“programming language”, “object-oriented”, “education”, “seminar”), which are described in a meta tag of the found web page, are extracted. The extracted keywords are transmitted to a dictionary server where a specialized dictionary containing the input word has been registered. If any of these transmitted keywords has been registered at this dictionary server, then this keyword is decided upon as a keyword related to the input word.

Abstract: A thermal printer is used with a thermosensitive recording sheet, and records an image on the recording sheet. A predetermined discernment code is provided for the recording sheet. A code reader inputs the predetermined discernment code. A system control block stores reference code, and checks the predetermined discernment code with reference to the reference code to judge whether the recording sheet is acceptable or unacceptable. If the recording sheet is unacceptable, printing operation is inhibited and/or an alarm signal is generated.

Abstract: Roll printing paper is provided at a high security level and a lower cost by accepting roll paper only corresponding to a printer. When printing paper is used by mounting it in a printer, a photosensor scans and reads an information code on the end face of a paper pipe while it is rotating, and a photosensor scans and reads an information code of roll paper, thereby determining whether or not they correspond to each other. If they correspond to each other, it is determined that the paper pipe is loaded with predetermined rotor. If they do not correspond to each other, it is determined that the paper pipe is loaded with wrong roll paper.
