Patent number: 7063512Abstract: A vertically-disposed pump shaft is supported by an upward force against the pump shaft during periods of non use of the pump thereby off-loading bearings normally supportive of the shaft to prevent damage thereto when the pump is moved. Additionally, a lateral support is provided at a lower end of the pump to prevent lateral movement while permitting axial movement, thereby reducing stresses against the pump housing and other components.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2003Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Nikkiso Company, Ltd.Inventors: William G. Haesloop, Motoyasu Ogawa

Patent number: 6655930Abstract: A centrifugal pump for pumping low temperature fluid includes a motor portion driving an impeller of a pump portion. The motor portion and impeller are coaxial. A pot, sealed to the pump portion, receives the low temperature fluid. The low temperature fluid contacts only the pump portion in the pot, thereby reducing the overall heat capacity of the centrifugal pump to reduce start time. A heat insulating jacket is in tight contact with the motor portion. A vent pipe extends from the pot, through the pump portion and within the heat insulating jacket, to a rear of the motor portion to increase safety and provide double-insulation to the vent pipe. The heat insulating jacket reduces the size and surface area of the centrifugal pump to resist heat flow and increase safety.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2001Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Assignee: Nikkiso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hitoshi Sato, Motoyasu Ogawa, Masatake Hattori

Patent number: 5383764Abstract: The present invention provides a novel diffusor for a diffusor pump. The diffusor comprises a body having a side portion and a plurality of blades placed on the side portion of the body so as to be along a flow direction of a liquid, each of the plural blades including at least one aperture so as to divided into a plurality of parts. The body has a cylindrical shape. The blade is divided into first and second parts by a single aperture. The first part of the blade has a solidity in the range from 0.75 to 1.25 when the treating liquid flows from the first part to the second part.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1993Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Assignee: Nikkiso, Co., Ltd.Inventors: Motoyasu Ogawa, Yuzo Nakagawa
