  • Patent number: 7303344
Abstract: A thermal transfer-type label printer and an optical disc apparatus are integrated to miniaturize a multi-function label printing apparatus. An information recording/reproducing unit that carries out recording or reproduction of information on a recording surface of an optical disc is incorporated within a disc tray unit of a label printing apparatus that presses a thermal transfer film ribbon, on which printing information has been formed, onto a label surface of an optical disc mounted on a disc mounting part of the disc tray unit, and transfers the printing information onto the label surface using a heat roller. The recording or reproduction of information on the recording surface of the optical disc and the transferring of the printing information on the label surface of the optical disc are carried out on the disc tray unit.

  • Patent number: 7114067
Abstract: A strap pin short-circuits specific signal lines on an unused interface an IDE interface with which a hard disk is connected. When the server device starts, a BIOS skips the process for recognizing the IDE interface when specific lines of an IDE interface are short-circuited.

  • Publication number: 20040230702
Abstract: A free area for recovery (unallocated area) 10d(2), an OS storage area 10d(1), and a user data area 10d(3) are provided on a hard disk 10d in a server device 10. Recovery OS data is written into the free area for recovery (unallocated area) 10d(2) in advance. When an error occurs in the OS, a user connects a serial dongle with a serial port to induce a short-circuit. When the server device 10 starts, a BIOS executes and detects that the serial port is short-circuited, the BIOS copies the recovery OS data stored in the free area 10d(2) into the OS storage area 10d(1) on the hard disk.

  • Publication number: 20040230703
Abstract: A server device 10 and a client device 14 are connected with a network. The client device 14 detects an existence of the server device 10 based on an MAC address, and executes ping command while sequentially changing an IP address to search for a free IP address. The free IP address is automatically assigned as an IP address for the server device 10.

  • Patent number: 5299074
Abstract: A method of, and an apparatus for, positioning a playback head in a transverse reference position on one edge of a multitrack magnetic tape having no track identification data or other positioning patterns prerecorded thereon. A tape drive unit is provided which has an erase head with an erase gap spanning the complete width of the tape. An alternating current generator circuit is connected to the erase head for supplying thereto a constant frequency alternating current to be written as a transverse head positioning pattern by the erase head on selected part of the tape throughout its width. The positioning pattern is then read by the playback head traveling across the width of the tape from an arbitrary position on the tape, in which the playback head is fully opposed to the positioning pattern, toward one edge of the tape while the tape is being driven longitudinally.

  • Patent number: 5287225
Abstract: A method of, and an apparatus for, positioning a record/playback head assembly in a transverse reference position on one edge of a multitrack magnetic tape having no track identification data or other positioning patterns prerecorded thereon. A stream of transverse head positioning data, typically representative of serial numbers 1-255, is first written by the record/playback head assembly longitudinally on the tap in a selected transverse position intermediate the opposite edges of the tape. The data are subsequently read and checked for errors. If the thus detected errors are less than a predetermined number, the record/playback head assembly is moved a unit distance toward one tape edge. A similar cycle of operations is repeated until errors are found in the read stream of transverse head positioning data to the predetermined number or more.

  • Patent number: 4696439
Abstract: A digital tape cassette apparatus having a speed sensing roller in frictional contact with the magnetic tape within a cassette housing at a point intermediate the magnetic head and that one of the cassette hubs operating as the takeup hub during forward tape transportation. Utilizing a tape speed signal generated by a speed sensor driven by the speed sensing roller, a closed loop servomechanism controls a pair of drive motors coupled directly to the respective cassette hubs to afford constant tape speed. The servomechanism is associated with a tape tension control circuit whereby a supply side one of the drive motors during tape travel in either direction is energized to an extent increasing with the increase in the diameter of the tape reel on the takeup side hub, thereby affording constant tape tension.
