Patent number: 12133730Abstract: The present application provides an AI-based system for evaluating an individual's mindfulness (e.g., during prayer) based on video captured of the individual. In one example, the video may be captured via a smart phone. The individual's mindfulness may be continually evaluated from the captured video by observing the individual's body pose and movements. For instance, turning the individual's head to one side or moving the individual's eyes around rapidly can be signs of losing focus. Body pose and movement information of an individual may be derived from the video through AI-based video analytics. The user's body pose and movements may be checked against a set of predefined criteria for mindfulness, and an objective evaluation may be provided. Such evaluation can then be fed back to the individual, for example, to remind the individual whenever they lose focus during prayer.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2021Date of Patent: November 5, 2024Assignee: QATAR FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTInventors: David Yang, Anis Troudi, Dena Al Thani, Amine Bermak, Mounir Hamdi

Patent number: 9231887Abstract: The subject specification comprises techniques employing multi-stage multi-layer switches for packet switching using fully shared buffers with a scalable switch fabric. A switch component includes a set of input modules (IMs) of switches that receive packets and are associated with a set of central modules (CMs) of switches that are associated with a set of memories. The switch component includes a second set of CMs associated with the set of memories, the second set of CMs being associated with a set of output modules (OMs) that can provide packets as output. A switch management component controls switching of the packets between the IMs and first set of CMs to the memories during a first switching phase, and switching of the packets from the memories to the second set of CMs to the OMs for output during a second switching phase, based on a defined scheduling algorithm.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2013Date of Patent: January 5, 2016Assignee: DYNAMIC INVENTION LLCInventors: Mounir Hamdi, Feng Wang

Patent number: 9077669Abstract: Lookup techniques are described, which can achieve improvements in energy efficiency, speed, and cost, of IP address lookup, for example, in devices and systems employing ternary content addressable memory (TCAM). The disclosed subject matter describes dividing a route table into several sub-tries with disjoint range boundaries. In addition, the disclosed subject matter describes storing sub-tries of a route table between a TCAM and a faster and less costly memory. The disclosed details enable various refinements and modifications according to system design and tradeoff considerations.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2011Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: DYNAMIC INVENTION LLCInventors: Mounir Hamdi, Dong Lin

Publication number: 20140164641Abstract: Network congestion management techniques are applied in a communication network. Network characteristics and target thresholds can be determined. A transmission mode can be determined. Further, a sending rate can be determined based on the transmission mode and network characteristics. In one aspect, network characteristics at a recent time can be determined to alter sending rates in a network to manage network congestion.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2013Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYInventors: Lisha YE, Mounir HAMDI

Patent number: 8547841Abstract: A WLAN communication system and algorithm that adaptively changes the data transmission rate of a communication channel based on changing channel conditions. The WLAN communication system or algorithm has two modes being a searching mode and a transmission mode. Furthermore, the WLAN communication system or algorithm incorporates an additive increase, multiplicative decrease (AIMD) function into the rate adaptation algorithm.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2012Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: STMicroelectronic Ltd. (Hong Kong)Inventor: Mounir Hamdi
