  • Patent number: 11712207
Abstract: An eyewear device that includes a frame and two arms extending distally from the frame with at least one processor included on the frame or the arms and at least two proximity sensors disposed within the frame or arms in a directional manner. The proximity sensors include an infrared signal receiver to receive an infrared emission. The processors execute an operation to warn a person wearing the eyeglasses by emitting a signal selected from a sound, light or vibration when the proximity sensor detects an infrared emission.

  • Patent number: 7126483
Abstract: A sensor assembly (10) for monitoring movement of an object (13) near a first body region (11) of an animal (12) includes one or more sensors (16) and a signaling unit (24). The sensor (16) is coupled to the animal (12) and detects movement of the object (13) near the first body region (11) of the animal (12). The signaling unit (24) generates a sensory signal that is received by the animal (12) when the sensor (16) detects movement of the object (13) near the first body region (11). In one embodiment, the sensor (16) can include an infrared sensor. Alternatively, one or more of the sensors (16) can include a directional sensor, a positional sensor, an inclination sensor and/or another suitable type of sensor (16). The sensory signal can be an audible sound, a vibration, a visual signal and/or an electrical impulse. The sensor assembly (10) can also include a counter (26) that monitors the number of times that the sensor (16) detects movement of the object (13) within or near the first body region (11).

  • Patent number: 6246547
Abstract: A slider attaches to a low profile flexure to form a slider-flexure assembly. The flexure has no out-of-plane bends thereby minimizing slider-flexure assembly height. The slider has a top, a bottom, a leading edge and a trailing edge. The flexure includes a tongue having a proximal end and a distal end. The distal end of the tongue connects to the top of the slider. The proximal end of the tongue overhangs the leading edge of the slider. The flexure includes gimbal beams that diverge from the proximal end of the tongue so that the gimbal beams suspend the slider from beyond the leading edge of the slider, thus eliminating a need for out-of-plane bends in the flexure.

  • Patent number: 5859749
Abstract: A head gimbal assembly for use in disk drive systems comprising a load beam, a flexure physically connected to the load beam, a slider physically connected to the flexure for movement with the flexure. The slider includes a transducer and n bonding pads to which the transducer is electrically connected. A flex circuit is provided having n conductors connected to the n bonding pads for providing electrical connection to the transducer, a portion of the flex circuit being routed between the flexure and the slider such that the portion, flexure and slider moves as a single unit, and a reduced stiffness area to minimize the effects on roll and pitch characteristics of the slider due to said flex circuit being connected to said n bonding pads on said slider and being routed between the flexure and slider.

  • Patent number: 5138507
Abstract: A flexure for supporting a slider/electromagnetic read/write head assembly for a rotary actuator-type disk drive. The flexure is designed to improve yaw stiffness while simultaneously improving pitch and roll compliance compared to prior art designs. The flexure has a support structure having a pair of forked outriggers. Attached at the end of each outrigger arm is a spaced-apart flexure tongue structure. The width of the flexure at the connection between the tongue and outriggers is less than the width of the flexure at the connection between the support structure and outriggers. A gimbaling dimple is provided on the tongue structure that is positioned such that when a slider is mounted on the flexure, the dimple is positioned at approximately the center of pressure of the slider.

  • Patent number: 5027240
Abstract: A computer disk head assembly load beam having improved vibrational characteristics. The inventive load beam has reduced mass and increased resonant frequencies for at least the first and second resonant modes in comparison to the prior art, while maintaining a spring rate approximately equivalent to the spring rate of prior art load beams. In addition, the invention exhibits a high degree of torsional stiffness. These characteristics are accomplished by providing a load beam having a delta-shaped forebody, an elongated arm portion, and short, relatively thick spring attachment beams connecting the base of the load beam to the insert-attachment portion of the load beam. The spring attachment beams of the load beam structure provide a spring rate approximately equivalent to the spring rate of prior art load beams. The invention also permits a reduction in the height of the load beam strengthening flanges, permitting decreased disk spacing.

  • Patent number: 5008768
Abstract: A flexure for supporting a slider/electromagnetic read/write head assembly for a rotary actuator-type disk drive. The flexure is designed to improve yaw stiffness while simultaneously improving pitch and roll compliance compared to prior art designs. The flexure has a forked outrigger structure. Attached at the end of each outrigger arm is a spaced-apart flexure tongue structure. A gimbaling dimple is provided on the tongue structure that is positioned such that when a slider is mounted on the flexure, the dimple is positioned at approximately the center of pressure of the slider. As a result of the inventive design, the position of the gimbaling dimple can be moved substantially forward along the flexure, thereby permitting the use of a notched slider assembly, resulting in an overall decrease in the height of the flexure/slider combination, thereby permitting decreased disk spacing.
