  • Publication number: 20240085204
Abstract: Systems and methods of preparing a vehicle for operation in a geographic zone having an operational requirement are disclosed that include determining a route for the vehicle, determining whether a geographic zone having an operational requirement exists on the route, and determining a powertrain configuration that includes a minimum state of charge (SoC) for a battery system of the vehicle based on the route data, the vehicle data, and/or the external data. The minimum SoC ensures that the vehicle can travel through the geographic zone while complying with the operational requirement. The systems and methods disclosed herein also include identifying a preparation zone for each geographic zone having an operational requirement and operating the vehicle through the preparation zone to ensure the battery system achieves the minimum SoC prior to entering the geographic zone having the operational requirement.

  • Publication number: 20240034298
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing traction assistance in a vehicle are disclosed that include determining whether a slip condition exists on a route of the vehicle based on vehicle data, external data, or a combination thereof, determining an electric drive powertrain configuration that includes a minimum state of charge (SoC) for a battery system of the vehicle based on the slip condition, and communicating the electric drive powertrain configuration to an electric drive powertrain controller, which operates the electric drive powertrain in accordance with the electric drive powertrain configuration to provide the minimum SoC to the battery system prior to the vehicle travelling over a portion of the route where the slip condition exists.

  • Publication number: 20230150386
Abstract: Electrified vehicle battery overcharge protection techniques monitor an intelligent battery sensor (IBS) current signal via a controller area network communication (CAN-C) bus and an output current of an auxiliary power module (APM) when the IBS current signal is unavailable. A controller then intelligently adjusts charging of the battery system to be battery current-based, battery temperature-based, or at predetermined constant value, based on a determined validity of the IBS current signal, the measured battery system current, and an awake/asleep status and responsiveness of the CAN-C bus.

  • Patent number: 10543757
Abstract: A control system for an electrified vehicle having low and high voltage battery systems includes a set of vehicle modules that collectively draw an ignition-off draw (IOD) current from the low voltage battery system while the vehicle is off, a set of sensors configured to measure a set of parameters of at least one of the low and high voltage battery systems, and a controller configured to: estimate the IOD current, receive the set of measured parameters from the set of sensors, based on the set of measured parameters and the estimated IOD current, set a wakeup time indicative of a future time at which the low voltage battery system will require recharging, and based on the wakeup time, temporarily wakeup the vehicle such that recharging of the low voltage battery system using the high voltage battery system is enabled.
