  • Patent number: 4006740
Abstract: A surgical apparatus for external transosteal fixation of bone fragments and joint ends comprises needles to be driven through the bones being aligned which are secured in braces. The braces are provided with means for fixing and tightening the needles, said means being formed as drive screws cooperating with turn-buckle nuts. There are through axial holes for needles formed in the drive screws, and the tips of the needles extended through said holes are provided with bulges larger in diameter than said holes. The apparatus ensures secure fixation of the needles with a prescribed degree of tension, the latter parameter lending itself to correction in the course of treatment.

  • Patent number: 3993055
Abstract: The proposed apparatus for surgical treatment of bone fractures and diseases comprises two pairs of needles each of which is to be driven through one of the bone fragments being aligned. Each pair of needles is secured in at least one brace so that each pair of needles and the brace define a rigid system to be secured on the respective bone fragment. The two rigid systems are interconnected by distractors. Accordingly, the end of the distractors are fastened to sliders moving in mutually perpendicular guide slots formed in the opposite braces belonging to different rigid systems. The apparatus of the invention permits repositioning bone fragments and effecting compression thereof both lengthwise in transverse fractures and laterally in oblique and spiral fractures.

  • Patent number: 3985127
Abstract: The proposed apparatus for surgical treatment of the knee joint comprises two pairs of needles each of which is to be driven through one of the joint ends. Each pair of needles is secured in at least one brace so that each pair of needles forms a rigid system with the brace, said rigid system being secured on the respective joint end. The two rigid systems are interconnected by means of distractors which are rigidly coupled to one of said systems and connected to the other one by way of a four-bar mechanism. The proposed apparatus permits exactly reproducing the movement of the knee joint, and between the joint ends there is provided a permanent minimal gap of preset magnitude completely obviating all friction between the joint surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3976061
Abstract: The proposed apparatus for surgical treatment of bones and joints comprises at least two pairs of needles designed to be driven through the juxtaposed bones. The tips of the needles of each pair are secured in at least one brace so that each pair of needles forms a rigid system with the brace, said rigid system being secured on the respective bone being juxtaposed. Said rigid systems are interconnected by two distractors each of which is formed as a split member carrying, in the midportion thereof, a system of two guides with two sliders attached to the respective components of the distractors, said guides being perpendicular to each other and also to the longitudinal axes of the distractor components associated therewith, and the sliders are provided with screw actuators serving to propel said sliders along said guides. The apparatus permits correcting lateral and rotary displacements of the juxtaposed bones, ensuring secure fixation thereof in the compression or distraction position.

  • Patent number: 3941123
Abstract: The proposed apparatus for joint movement restitution comprises two pairs of needles each of which is designed to be driven through one of the joint ends, one of the needles being aligned with the pivotal axis of the joint. Each pair of needles is secured in at least one brace so as to define with the brace a rigid system to be secured on the respective joint end. The two rigid systems are interconnected by distractors which are fixed to one of said systems and connected to the other system by way of ball joints whose fulcrums lie on the longitudinal axis of the needle aligned with the pivotal axis of the joint. The apparatus of the invention provides for joint movement after various angular deformation of the joint ends secured in the apparatus have been corrected.
