  • Patent number: 10084563
Abstract: Waveforms may be shaped in a wireless communications device by processing head tones of a multi-tone carrier using a head tone waveform shaping characteristic to provide a first sub-symbol, processing tail tones of the multi-tone carrier using a tail tone waveform shaping characteristic to provide a second sub-symbol, and processing center tones of the multi-tone carrier using a center tone waveform shaping characteristic to provide a third sub-symbol. The first, second, and third waveform shaping characteristics may be different from each other, i.e., the waveform shaping may be asymmetric. The first, second, and third sub-symbols may be combined to provide an output symbol.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 25, 2018
    Assignee: QUALCOMM Incorporated
Inventors: Seyong Park, Muhammad Abdelghaffar, Wei Zeng, Jing Jiang, Joseph Binamira Soriaga, Tingfang Ji

  • Patent number: 9785220
Abstract: A power management technique utilizing a method for accurately and rapidly estimating the change in the statistical distribution of data at each block in a communication system leading to or originating from a memory that is experiencing voltage scaling induced errors is disclosed. An appropriate memory supply voltage that maximizes power savings is found by exploiting the available SNR slack while keeping system performance within a required margin.

  • Patent number: 9490855
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for managing an adaptive interference filter performed by a device processor of a mobile communication device. A device processor may determine whether a transmission power from the mobile communication device is greater than or equal to a transmit power threshold. The device processor may determine whether a ratio of interference in a received signal to a level of the received signal including noise (interference ratio) is greater than or equal to an interference ratio threshold in response to determining that the transmission power is greater than or equal to the transmit power threshold. The device processor may perform interference cancellation with the adaptive interference filter in response to determining that the interference ratio is greater than or equal to the interference ratio threshold. In some embodiments the adaptive interference filter may be a non-linear interference cancellation filter.

  • Patent number: 8767657
Abstract: A wireless device with multiple antennae and configured to support orthogonal frequency-division multiplexed (OFDM), multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications of a wireless local area network (LAN) among multiple wireless devices over a shared wireless communication medium on a shared communication channel. The wireless access device comprises: a mixed-mode MIMO detector configured to allocate a mix of linear and non-linear MIMO detectors among received OFDM sub-channels of the shared communication channel, thereby reducing a level of complexity associated with reception of MIMO streams exclusively via non-linear MIMO detectors.
