Patent number: 11451296Abstract: A method of transmitting data via a unipolar signal comprises allocating a symbol to one or more signals among a plurality of signals, applying pulse shaping to the plurality of signals to obtain a plurality of filtered signals, wherein the filtered signals are orthogonal signals, and transmitting the sum of the filtered signals as a unipolar signal, wherein the transmitted signal is a weighted sum of the filtered signals. The data can be recovered at the receiver by applying a plurality of orthogonal matched filters to the received unipolar signal to obtain a plurality of filtered signals, and performing symbol detection on the plurality of filtered signals to determine the received symbol. Apparatus for transmitting and receiving unipolar signals are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2018Date of Patent: September 20, 2022Inventors: Diana Dawoud, Fabien Heliot, Muhammad Ali Imran

Patent number: 10868610Abstract: A communications device including a transmitter and a receiver configured to transmit and receive signals representing data to and from an infrastructure equipment of a mobile communications network via a first wireless access interface. The communications device transmits signals via a second wireless access interface to a communications apparatus operating as a relay node, and determines an additional delay caused by the transmission of the signals to the communications apparatus acting as the relay node via the second wireless access interface compared with a time taken which would have been taken to transmit the signals to the infrastructure equipment as if transmitted via the first wireless access interface, and transmits an indication from which the infrastructure equipment can derive the determined additional delay for adjusting the transmission or reception of the synchronized response.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2019Date of Patent: December 15, 2020Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Ayesha Ijaz, Atta Ul Quddus, Muhammad Ali Imran, Lei Zhang, Hideji Wakabayashi, Jussi Tapani Kahtava

Publication number: 20190268063Abstract: A communications device and method of communicating using a communications device is disclosed for transmitting data to a mobile communications network or receiving data from a mobile communications network. The communications device comprises a transmitter configured to transmit signals representing data to an infrastructure equipment of a mobile communications network via a first wireless access interface, a receiver configured to receive signals from the infrastructure equipment of the mobile communications network via the first wireless access interface, and a controller. The controller controls the transmitter and the receiver to transmit data to the infrastructure equipment in accordance with a synchronous process in which a synchronized response is received from the infrastructure equipment, or to receive data from the infrastructure equipment in accordance with a synchronous process in which a synchronized response is transmitted to the infrastructure equipment.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2019Publication date: August 29, 2019Applicant: Sony CorporationInventors: Ayesha IJAZ, Atta UL QUDDUS, Muhammad ALI IMRAN, Lei ZHANG, Hideji WAKABAYASHI, Jussi Tapani KAHTAVA

Patent number: 10111200Abstract: An infrastructure equipment as part of a mobile communications network receives an indication that data is to be transmitted to one of communications devices. In response the infrastructure equipment transmits a first paging message to the communications device to indicate the communications device is to receive the data via a wireless access interface. If a response to the transmitted first paging message is not received within a predetermined time, then if the infrastructure equipment can use a power boosting mode, to transmit the first paging message with a boosted power, or if the infrastructure equipment cannot use a power boosted mode for transmitting, to transmit a second paging message to one or more communications apparatus which can operate as a relay node for the communications device. The second paging message identifies the relay node and the communications device for which the infrastructure equipment is to transmit the data.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2015Date of Patent: October 23, 2018Assignee: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Lei Zhang, Ayesha Ijaz, Atta Ul Quddus, Muhammad Ali Imran, Hideji Wakabayashi, Jussi Tapani Kahtava

Patent number: 9954605Abstract: A method of operating a relay device to receive data from one or more terminal devices and relay the data to a base station in a wireless telecommunications system. The method includes receiving plural blocks of data from one or more terminal devices at different times. Each block of data is received in association with an indication of a time by which the block of data should be transmitted to the base station. The block of data are buffered at the relay node that determines earliest time by which one of the received blocks of data should be transmitted to the base station and transmits the plurality of blocks of data to the base station together in advance of this earliest time. The method reduces signalling overhead associated with transmissions from the relay device to the base station while helping to ensure data is not delayed at the relay node for longer than is acceptable for the data.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2015Date of Patent: April 24, 2018Assignee: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Ayesha Ijaz, Muhammad Ali Imran, Atta Ul Quddus, Yinan Qi, Hideji Wakabayashi, Jussi Tapani Kahtava
