  • Patent number: 11327000
Abstract: An example system is configured to detect saturation levels of a target, such as a core sample of a reservoir, using magnetic fields generated by hydrophilic magnetic nanoparticles within the target. The target contains both a hydrocarbon, such as oil or gas, and a mixture comprised of water and the hydrophilic magnetic nanoparticles. The system includes magnetic field detectors for spatial distribution across a dimension of the target. The magnetic field detectors are configured to detect a magnetic field associated with the hydrophilic magnetic nanoparticles. A data processing system is configured—for example, programmed—to determine a saturation profile of the target based on the magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 11215011
Abstract: A wellbore is drilled in a formation using a drill string assembly that includes a drill string. A drill bit is connected to a downhole end of the drill string. A notching tool is connected to the drill string. After drilling the wellbore to a depth from a surface in the formation, the drilling is paused. The notching tool is rotated. a notch is formed with the rotating notching tool. In subsequent operations, DSA is removed from the well and the fracturing fluid pumped from the surface can create fractures at the locations of notches. These fractures would improve wellbore connectivity with the reservoir for better oil and gas recovery.

  • Patent number: 10557337
Abstract: Systems and methods for removing sand from fluid in a subterranean hydrocarbon development well include producing a cyclonic flow pattern of a sandy fluid of the subterranean well within a wellbore of a subterranean well with tangentially formed openings along a fluid flow path of the sandy fluid. The cyclonic flow pattern causes sand traveling in the sandy fluid to fall downhole as separated sand, and causes a de-sanded fluid stream to be directed uphole towards a production tubing. The de-sanded fluid stream is produced through the production tubing. The separated sand is collected proximate to a suction end of a progressing cavity pump. The progressing cavity pump is operated so that the separated sand flows through the progressing cavity pump and out a discharge end of the progressing cavity pump, to produce the separated sand through a sand discharge tube.

  • Patent number: 10428635
Abstract: A system and method of removing sand from a wellbore by mixing the sand with a liquid to form a slurry, and forcing the slurry through a discharge line to surface. The sand is separated from the production fluid within the wellbore by centrifugal action created using a specially design screen or tangential perforations, and directed into a portion of the wellbore that is sealed from the remainder of the wellbore. The liquid and sand are mixed together in the sealed portion of the wellbore, and the pressure of the fluid is sufficient to force the slurry uphole. Included in the sealed portion of the wellbore is a perturbation element for mixing the sand and liquid.

  • Patent number: 10053959
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing or removing condensate blockage in a natural gas wellbore and a near-wellbore formation. Microwaves are used to heat a ceramic-containing material within a near-wellbore formation. Heat is transferred from the ceramic-containing material to the near-wellbore formation.
