Abstract: In a system and method for determining vital sign information of a subject the subject is illuminated with radiation, and radiation reflected from the subject is received. A region of interest is located in a first phase. Said illumination is controlled to locally illuminate, in a second phase, the located region of interest with radiation allowing determination of vital sign information. Finally, vital sign information of the subject is determined from the radiation reflected from said region of interest and detected in said second phase.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for determining vital sign information from a subject are disclosed. The proposed apparatus comprises a detection unit for detecting radiation from a field of view and for determining characteristic parameter including vital sign information of the subject from different areas of the field of view, a frequency analysis unit for determining a spectral parameter of the characteristic parameter derived from the different areas, a selection unit for selecting at least one of the areas of the field of view on the basis of the spectral parameter, and a calculation unit for calculating the vital sign information on the basis of the characteristic parameter from the at least one selected area.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for detecting different subjects on the basis of vital signs are disclosed. The proposed apparatus comprises an image detection unit for detecting radiation from a field of view and for providing image data from the field of view, a detection unit for defining image sections in the image data and for detecting movement pattern in the different image sections, an identification unit for identifying vital signs in the different image section on the basis of the movement pattern, and an analysis unit for analysing the image data, wherein the analysis unit is adapted to detect the different subjects in the field of view on the basis of a spatial separation of the image sections or of groups of image sections in which the vital signs are identified.
