Abstract: Disclosed herein are ruthenium arene Schiff-base complex and uses thereof. The ruthenium arene Schiff-base complex disclosed herein has the structure of formula (I), wherein, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, and R12 are independently H, alkyl, alkoxyl, or halo; R13, R14, R15, R16, and R17 are independently H, alkyl, alkoxyl, hydroxy, halo, —C(?NH)NH2, —SO3H, —SO2NH2, —NR?R?, or —CONH2; or R13 and R14 are taken together to form a benzene ring, while R15, R16, and R17 are independently H, alkyl, alkoxyl, hydroxy, halo, —C(?NH)NH2, —SO3H, —SO2NH2, —NR?R?, or —CONH2; or R14 and R15 are taken together to form a benzene ring, while R13, R16, and R17 are independently H, alkyl, alkoxyl, hydroxy, halo, —C(?NH)NH2, —SO3H, —SO2NH2, —NR?R?, or —CONH2; R? and R? are independently H or alkyl; the alkyl is optionally substituted with one or more halo or hydroxy, or hydroxy; and Y is a counter anion.
