  • Patent number: 7471736
Abstract: In a transmitter, an upconverter converts a lower frequency signal to a higher frequency signal. Prior to the upconversion, a compensator compensates for at least gain/phase distortion that will be introduced into the lower frequency signal by at least the upconverter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 2003
Date of Patent: December 30, 2008
    Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.
Inventors: Lei Ding, Walter Honcharenko, Munawar Hussein Kermalli, Zhengxiang Ma, Dennis Raymond Morgan
  • Patent number: 7196578
Abstract: An input signal is modified to compensate for amplifier memory effects by combining at least two versions of the input signal, each version of the input signal being offset in time with respect to one another. More specifically, an RF input signal is split into at least two split signals, a different delay is applied to each split signal, and the delayed, split signals are combined to obtain a modified input signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 30, 2003
Date of Patent: March 27, 2007
    Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.
    Inventor: Munawar Hussein Kermalli
  • Patent number: 7162271
Abstract: The band pass filter includes at least first and second band pass filters. A selector receives at least one signal, and supplies the signal to one of the first and second band pass filters. A controller controls the selector based on a frequency of the signal.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 9, 2007
    Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.

  • Publication number: 20040057533
Abstract: A predistortion system predistorts a signal to be amplified at an intermediate frequency (IF). In certain embodiments, the IF predistortion system frequency downconverts the radio frequency (RF) signal to be amplified to an IF frequency. The IF signal is predistorted and frequency upconverted back to RF prior to amplification. For example, the IF signal can be analog to digitally converted, and the digital IF signal is predistorted. The predistorted digital IF signal is converted back to an analog IF signal, and the analog IF signal is then upconverted to RF prior to amplification.
