  • Patent number: 4536010
Abstract: An automatic system for use in a motor vehicle has an outer webbing, both ends of which are secured to a vehicle door and an inner webbing, one end of which is connected to the intermediate portion of the outer webbing through a ring joint movable along the outer webbing and the other end of which is retracted by a retractor on a vehicle floor. A guide lever is provided at an inner side of an occupant's seat, which includes a main body fixed to the inner side of the seat and a webbing guide portion on the top of the main body. The webbing guide portion has an opening through which the inner webbing passes and is rotatable around an axis extending laterally of the vehicle, whereby the webbing guide portion presents a suitable position and angle to guide the inner webbing at any condition, for example, with or without an occupant on the seat.

  • Patent number: 4437684
Abstract: An automatic seatbelt system in which a pair of sprocket wheels are driven by a single driving motor to move both shoulder and lap webbings in response to an occupant entering or leaving a vehicle. A flexible shoulder tape is connected to the shoulder webbing through a guide member slidable along a roof side of the vehicle, and extends along a vehicle body to mesh with one of the sprocket wheel. A flexible lap tape is connected to the lap webbing through a guide member slidable along an inner surface of a vehicle door, and extends along the vehicle door and body to mesh with the other of the sprocket wheel. When the sprocket wheels rotate, both shoulder and lap seatbelt webbings are simultaneously moved through the tapes toward either the front side of the vehicle to provide an enough space for the occupant to enter the vehicle, or the rear side of the vehicle to place the webbings over the occupant at a seat.

  • Patent number: 4286805
Abstract: A three-point type seatbelt system wherein ends of a lap outer webbing and a shoulder webbing are secured to the upper and lower portions of a vehicle door, whereby an occupant opens or closes said door so as to automatically fasten the webbings or unfasten same from the occupant. A non-locking retractor is provided between the lap outer webbing and said door and an emergency locking retractor between the lap inner webbing and the substantially central portion of the vehicle, whereby the waist of the occupant is moved by a certain length more forward in the vehicle than his head so that his head can be prevented from dashing against a dangerous obstacle.

  • Patent number: 4283076
Abstract: A seatbelt system wherein the intermediate portions of an outer webbing for restraining an occupant are turned back at slip anchors provided at the upper and lower portions of a vehicle door, whereby, in the normal running condition of the vehicle, relative movement between the webbing and the slip anchors allows the occupant to have high freedom in moving, and, in an emergency of the vehicle, when the occupant is moved by an inertial force in the direction of a collision, relative movement between the webbing and the slip anchors is prevented to restrain the occupant, thus preventing the upper body of the occupant from being thrown out in the direction of the collision.

  • Patent number: 4173318
Abstract: A webbing retractor in a safety seatbelt system, wherein the webbing is wound up by a take-up shaft through a biasing force and wherein the retractor is provided with a sensor for sensing the vibrations of the vehicle and a locking device actuated by the sensor to prevent the windup force of the take-up shaft from being applied to the webbing whereby pleasant fitness is obtained when the vehicle runs on a bad road.
