  • Patent number: 4817174
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a density detector for detecting the density of an image by a CCD. The CCD has a plurality of sets of pixels, each set of pixels is defined by the neighboring pixels. The apparatus also includes a calculator for calculating the sum of the image densities detected by the pixels of each set and for further calculating a difference between the sums. If the difference is greater than a predetermined level, it means that the contour is present between the sets of pixels. An image processing unit is provided for increasing or decreasing the density of the image for the contour enhancement when the contour is detected.

  • Patent number: 4807046
Abstract: This invention relates to a copier to obtain image signals by scanning an original image by an image sensor, and to copy the image on a copying paper by a recorder after subjecting the image signals to the reduction processing, and the copier of this invention is designed in such a way as to obtain reduction image signals by sampling the image signals, which are obtained by reading the original image, in accordance with the reduction rate, to write these reduction image signals in an image memory, and to copy the image on a copying paper by the recorder by reading out the stored data from the image memory, having a calculating circuit to calculate write addresses of the reduction image signals in the image memory according to the reduction rate and the copying paper size, whereby the obtained reduction image signals are supplied directly to the recorder without resort to a large sized processor which carries out the reduction processing and the editing processing, the original image is copied correctly on the

  • Patent number: 4763200
Abstract: An image scanning apparatus is provided by (1) a platen on which an original can be placed; (2) a scanning device for scanning the original, which includes a lens for projecting the image of the original on an imaging plane; (3) an image sensor for sensing the image projected on the imaging plane which consists of a plurality of elements arranged linearly along to the imaging plane; (4) a memory device for storing data sensed by the image sensor during a scan by the scanning device; and (5) an assembly for determining the real image area on the original based on the data stored in the memory device. To the above apparatus can be added an output control device for sending digital data of a real image area. A copier according to the present invention which can copy a manuscript, comprises: (1) the above-mentioned image scanning apparatus; (2) is also provided by the above by including an image forming device and (3) a control device for allowing the image forming device to form only the image in the image area.
