  • Patent number: 6264886
Abstract: There is provided a sintered metallic alloy having toughness capable of supporting stress at a point by distributing structure portions having different values of rigidity approximately uniformly without separation of layers different in brashiness. A method of manufacturing the sintered metallic alloy and a sintered alloy gear employing the sintered metallic alloy are also provided. Metallic materials are formed into a predetermined configuration. Then, the metallic materials is sintered in a sintering furnace (14) to make a sintered metallic alloy. Next, the sintered metallic alloy is cooled gradually to an ambient atmosphere of room temperature. Finally, the temperature of the cooled metallic alloy is raised and a toughness stabilizing process is performed in a low-temperature furnace (18) so that structures with high toughness are distributed approximately uniformly.

  • Patent number: 6012350
Abstract: The internal gear is a bottomed cylindrical component, which has the boss portion fitted over the outer circumferential surface of the shaft, the disk-shaped flange portion extending radially outwardly from the boss portion, and the cylindrical gear body having a tooth portion in its inner circumferential surface and connecting integrally to the outer circumferential part of the flange portion. The flange portion is virtually conical on its outer side surface and tapered from the outer diameter side toward the inner diameter side, i.e., from the gear body toward the boss portion. This construction is thicker at the boss portion side than at the gear body side. Further, the density of the flange portion is almost inversely proportional to the thickness and is lower at the boss portion side than at the gear body side. The cylindrical gear body has a density distribution such that the central part of the gear body is lower in density than the end portions in a tooth trace direction of the teeth portions.

  • Patent number: 5910062
Abstract: A lubricating structure of an automatic transmission is provided which is capable of realizing high lubrication efficiency by allowing lubricating oil to flow efficiently, and of retaining the durability of a member to be lubricated. In the lubricating structure of the automatic transmission, an oil seal line (35) corresponds to a line on which an oil catching member (29) comes into contact with a carrier plate (10), and the oil seal line (35) has a configuration in which the distance in radial directions from an input shaft (21) to each point on the oil seal line (35) is made unequal so that the lubricating oil caught by the oil catching member (29) flows along the oil seal line (35) toward the opening of an oil path (28) on the side opposite to the side on which a pinion is disposed by centrifugal force making rotation on the input shaft (21).

  • Patent number: 5899310
Abstract: A structure of a clutch plate is provided which is capable of retaining its stable quality without any chemical treating agent. In the clutch plate structure, laminar facings (9, 9) are attached to the sides (8, 8) of a metallic core plate (7) with a binding material (10), and a plurality of concaves (11 . . . ) filled with the binding material (10) are formed physically in the sides (8, 8) so that the adhesion area on the side of the core plate (7) becomes larger.

  • Patent number: 5860885
Abstract: A lubricating structure of an automatic transmission is provided which is capable of realizing sufficient cooling lubrication with lubricating oil, utilizing a given space efficiently, and avoiding the possibility of an increase in the weight of assembly parts by checking an increase in the number of the assembly parts. The rotational direction of a front planetary gear device (46) and the like is changed by engagement or disengagement of each of multiplate clutch plates (35, 43) of a plurality of multiplate clutch devices (33, 40), and thereby the transmission state of driving force is shifted. A 2-4 brake clutch (33) of the multiplate clutch devices (33, 40) is engaged in two forward gears and is disengaged in a forward gear between the two forward gears. A reverse clutch (40) of the multiplate clutch devices (33, 40) is disposed substantially in the same position as that of the 2-4 brake clutch (33) in the axial direction and outside of the 2-4 brake clutch (33) in the radius direction.

  • Patent number: 5700221
Abstract: A cooling structure of an automatic transmission is provided which is capable of reducing the number of assembly parts and obtaining a high cooling efficiency by placing two heat sources away from each other. A high clutch device (15) is disposed between a front planetary gear device (13) and a rear planetary gear device (14) which is parallelly disposed in the direction in which an input shaft (4) in the front planetary gear device (13) extends. The high clutch device (15) includes a cylindrical clutch drum (15a), a clutch piston (15b) which slides in the direction of the input shaft (4) inside of the clutch drum portion (15a) and forms a piston-operating oil hydraulic chamber (20) in combination with the clutch drum portion (15a), and a plurality of clutch plates (15c) which are pressed by the clutch piston (15b) and laminated in the direction in which the input shaft (4) extends. The clutch drum (15a) is formed intetrally with a planetary carrier (18).

  • Patent number: 5695424
Abstract: A planet carrier of an automotive automatic transmission includes an annular main body portion disposed around a pinion shaft between the carrier body and the pinion gear. A washer formed of a porous material such that lubricating fluid can flow therethrough to both sides of the washer is disposed around the pinion shaft. Further, a boss portion may be formed at the inner periphery of the washer opening, which portion is inserted between the surface of the pinion shaft and an inner circumference of the pinion gear. A fluid passage is defined according to installation of the washer, between the edge of the washer and the bearings of the pinion gear such that lubricating fluid is retained therein, which fluid flows around the pinion shaft.

  • Patent number: 5659876
Abstract: A method for producing a washer having a boss comprises the following steps in the sequence set forth: (a) sprinkling powder of a bearing alloy onto a backing metal made of an iron-based alloy to form a composite material; (b) sintering the composite material to obtain a bimetal material so as to accomplish a primary sintering; (c) fabricating the bimetal material into a shape of the washer having the boss; and (d) simultaneously accomplishing a secondary sintering and carburizing of the washer having the boss. By virtue of simultaneously conducting the secondary sintering and the carburizing for the washer, the number of steps in producing method (particularly, during a heat treatment) is reduced thereby improving the productivity of the washer having the boss while reducing thermal energy required for the heat treatment.

  • Patent number: 5356352
Abstract: In a planetary gear set, a pinion shaft extending through one of planetary pinions has one and opposite end portions supported by two spaced plate portions of a carrier. Needle bearings are disposed between the pinion and the pinion shaft. Pinion washers extend around the piston shaft and radially between the pinions and the adjacent plate portions of the carrier. In order to withstand a thrust which the needle bearings are subjected to, the pinion washers have integral portions extending axially into spaces defined between the pinion, the needle bearings and the spaced plate portions of the carrier. Alternatively, the pinion shaft may have integral portions extending radially into the spaces.
