    Abstract: A nozzle for collecting extracted material for efficiently collecting a solution sprayed, together with gas, from an exit-tube at the outlet of a backpressure control valve in a supercritical fluid chromatograph or a supercritical fluid extraction apparatus. A nozzle 10 is fitted to an end of and is used for collecting in a collection vessel a liquid component in a fluid supplied from the exit-tube. The nozzle 10 comprises a nozzle body 12, an exit-tube hole 18 provided in the nozzle body 10, an opening 14 provided at the lower end of the nozzle body 10, a filter 14 provided above the opening 14 in the nozzle body 10, and an exhaust hole 20 provided in the nozzle body 10 at a position above the filter 16. When the nozzle 10 is fitted, the downstream tip of the exit-tube is inserted through the exit-tube hole 18 and is secured so that the downstream tip of the exit-tube is almost in contact with the filter 14. The fluid discharged from the exit-tube is sprayed into the filter 14.

    Abstract: A microflow cell comprising an outer cylinder disposed on the outer periphery of a cylindrical flow cell and having a flat surface on at least a light-entering surface, and a filling material inserted between the outer cylinder and the flow cell and a capillary electrophoresis method using such a microflow cell. Since the outer cylinder is provided on the outer periphery of the cylindrical flow cell and the gap between the flow cell and the outer cylinder is filled up with a filling liquid, the quantity of scattered light is reduced, thereby enabling the adoption of fluorometry in the analysis of capillary electrophoresis.

    Abstract: It is an object to provide a recycle chromatograph with supercritical fluid mobile phase for separating a sample into components by recycling a mobile phase which includes modifier solvent for the purpose of taking a desired component.It is structured in such a manner that a recycling pump (10), a column (14), a detector (16), and a three-way valve (18) are connected in a sequential order as described above to form a closed loop which acts as a recycle flow line. A back-pressure regulator (20) is connected to the remainder port (C) of this three-way valve (18), and a mobile phase supplying and pressurizing device (30, 38, 30A, 48) for supplying the mobile phase under a predetermined pressure is connected to a flow line between the three-way valve (18) and the recycling pump (10).By means of this mobile phase supplying and pressurizing device and the recycle closed loop, (the column pressure drop .DELTA.p)/(column plate number) can be reduced, whereupon the column effective plate number can be increased.

    Abstract: A pressure control apparatus is used in an apparatus for effecting extraction, chromatographic separation, and fractionation. The pressure control apparatus is intended to reduce the amount of a fluid stagnating in a valve, and is arranged to cyclically open and close the valve, thereby controlling the level of pressure. An apparatus for effecting extraction, chromatographic separation, and fractionation is designed to perform in an on-line manner the extraction of soluble components contained in a sample as well as the separation and fractionation of the components. A chromatography is connected to a downstream side of a supercritical fluid extraction device, and the aforesaid pressure control apparatus is used as back-pressure regulators (9, 18) for the chromatography and the extraction device. An extraction fluid and an elution fluid which are used in a mobile phase may be a common fluid (FIG. 1) or separate fluids (FIG. 10).

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a split stream flow cell which is used for a UV detector of liquid chromatography and in which a UV light for detecting absorption of the light is transmitted through a sample solution flowing in the cell. It is an object of the present invention to reduce the influences of both the flow effect and the liquid lens effect without cell volume being made too large. To this end, a split stream flow cell of the present invention comprises a split flow channel (12) which passes through a cell block (10) and which has a central portion communicating with an inlet channel (18), both ends communicating with an outlet channel (38), and both sides symmetrical with respect to the central portion, the diameter thereof being increased from a given position in the central portion toward both ends.

    Abstract: A car-locating system comprises a portable transmitter-receiver unit and a car-mounted transmitter-receiver unit. The portable unit includes a switch, a first directional antenna, a first transmission section, a receiving section and a receipt level display. When it is closed, the switch generates a car-locating instruction. In response to this instruction, the first transmission section transmits a transmitting code through the directional antenna. Any signal received by the directional antenna is demodulated by the receiving section into a response code. The response code is compared with a first prescribed response code. When it is identical with the first prescribed response code, the receiving signal level is displayed by the receipt level display. The car-mounted unit includes a non-directional antenna, a second transmission section and a timer. The non-directional antenna receives the code transmitted from the portable unit.

    Abstract: An apparatus for analyzing a sample with a supercritical fluid includes a fluid container containing as an extraction solvent a fluid obtained by compressing and liquefying a substance which is a gas at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. A pump is provided for drawing the fluid from its container through a suction line and delivering it through a delivery line, while the heads of the pump are cooled by a cooling device. An extraction mechanism is provided for bringing the fluid in a supercritical state into contact with the sample to be analyzed and extracting a specific component or components from the sample. A trapping mechanism is provided downstream of the extraction mechanism for collecting the extracted component or components from the fluid. An analyzing mechanism can be connected to the trapping mechanism by changeover valves for analyzing the collected component or components.

    Abstract: A mobile phase supplying method in a liquid chromatography which is characterized in a disposition of a second plunger pump unit, in addition to the conventional way of employing one plunger pump unit (a first pump). The second plunger pump unit is disposed in series with the first plunger pump unit, being connected to the suction side of the first pump with the discharge side of the second pump, in order to synchronously supply the same amount of mobile phase discharged from the first pump to the suction side thereof by the second pump for the purpose of preventing the suction side of the first pump from being exposed to an occurrence of negative pressure. The apparatus for realizing the method is provided, in its double-pumped structure, with a connecting rod having on either end thereof a first and second plungers, between both pump units, which are synchronously and coaxially driven by a common driving system.

    Abstract: In a method for magnetically recording a vehicle condition, a voltage proportional to a vehicle speed is sampled at a predetermined interval and converted into a code signal which is temporarily memorized by a memory. When the memorized data reach a predetermined amount, the data are transferred to be recorded by a magnetic tape for a period which is short enough not to prevent the memory from memorizing. When all the data have been recorded, a completion signal is generated to stop the tape, whereby the inter record gap is limited to minimum length.
