  • Publication number: 20240111044
Abstract: A system and method of threat detection using a pulsed polarimetric radar system using microwave range of frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum. The system uses a radar principle to transmit and receive the scattered response from the target. A time pulsed upconverted frequency system is used to sample the target over a specified radio frequency (RF) bandwidth. The full 2-port scattering matrix (comprising all co and cross s-parameters) is captured using only one antenna with an OMT and delay lines, that represent the target. Several decompositions are used to describe the polarimetric signature of the target. The system uses polarimetric approaches to measure scattering properties of anomalous object concealed beneath clothing. The co-polarized and cross-polarized signals are analyzed to determine if a person is carrying an anomalous object beneath their clothing.

  • Publication number: 20230213678
Abstract: A system and method for a smart stand-alone multi-sensor gateway for detection of person-borne threats. The multi-sensor gateway system consists of two pillars comprising a plurality of sensors that build a gateway for patrons to pass through that detects concealed threats carried on-body. The threat detection relies on artificial intelligence (Al) to analyze the sensors’ data and assess the presence of a threat. The Al is performed on an edge device contained within the gateway. The gateway can consist of a plurality of peripherals that enhance the sensing capability of the gateway, such as a camera or an accelerometer, and provide the security guard with information around alerts and threat locations such as with displays or audible alerts and manage the operations such as displays to control throughput.

  • Patent number: 8390949
Abstract: A data storage circuit includes a hard disk drive (HDD) and a fall sensor. The HDD includes a rotatable media platter operable to receive and store data; a read/write head operable to communicate with the media platter by writing data to the media platter and by reading the data from the media platter; an arm supporting the read/write head; a motor coupled to the arm and operable to move the arm to and from the media platter; a drive controller operable to control the media platter, the read/write head and the servo motor; a general purpose input/output (GPIO) terminal coupled to the drive controller; and a data interface terminal coupled to the drive controller. The fall sensor is communicatively coupled to the drive controller and is configured to send an interrupt trigger signal to the drive controller when the drive is falling.

  • Publication number: 20130023757
Abstract: An interconnect for an RF detector coil comprises a substrate comprising strip of insulating material, a conducting layer formed on a first side of the substrate, and a ground layer formed on a second side of the substrate. At least one of the layers has a periodic pattern so that the conducting layer alternates along its length between capacitive regions which are opposite regions of the ground layer, and non-capacitive regions.

  • Patent number: 8074016
Abstract: A data storage device having fall protection includes a rotatable media platter operable to receive and store data, a read/write head operable to communicate with the media platter by writing the data to the media platter and by reading the data from the media platter, an arm supporting the read/write head, a servo motor coupled the arm and operable to move the arm to and from the media platter, a drive controller operable to control the media platter, the read/write head and the servo motor, and a general purpose input/output (GPIO). In an embodiment, the GPIO is coupled with a fall sensor that is external to the data storage device so that when the fall sensor sends a floating interrupt trigger, signaling that the fall sensor is falling, the GPIO receives the interrupt trigger and the drive controller performs an emergency routine to cache data in flight to or from the data storage device and park the read/write head away from the media platter.
