  • Publication number: 20240056281
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support marking symbols and validation of non-cell-defining-synchronization signal block (NCD-SSB) and random access channel (RACH) occasions within 5G new radio (NR) networks. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes the UE obtaining an uplink-downlink configuration for one or more slots, an NCD-SSB configuration identifying NCD-SSB transmissions, and a bandwidth configuration identifying a bandwidth part (BWP) allocated to the UE and a configuration for cell-defining-synchronization signal block (CD-SSB) transmissions. The UE can mark a configured flexible symbol as a downlink symbol in response to either an NCD-SSB symbol or a CD-SSB symbol overlapping with the flexible symbol. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 11863201
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communication system may support techniques for correlation-based hardware sequences for layered decoding. In some cases, a user equipment (UE) may partition layers of a submatrix associated with a parity check decoding procedure into a first set of layers and a second set of layers. The UE may sort each set of layers into a respective set of layer orders (e.g., a first set of layer orders and a second set of layer orders) based on an associated set of correlation values. The UE may combine the first set of layer orders and the second set of layer orders to obtain a set of combined layer orders and may select a decoding schedule from a set of decoding schedules used for decoding each of the combined layer orders based on respective schedule lengths for the set of decoding schedules.

  • Publication number: 20230308914
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network entity, a configuration that indicates one or more measurement objects, wherein a measurement object of the one or more measurement objects indicates a synchronization signal block (SSB) frequency of a configured bandwidth part (BWP). The UE may determine, from the one or more measurement objects, a serving cell measurement object based at least in part on an active BWP of the UE, wherein the serving cell measurement object is associated with an SSB frequency in the active BWP. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230276484
Abstract: The aspects described herein are directed to measurement and reporting procedures of an apparatus (e.g., a low-tier user-equipment (UE) or a regular UE) when a bandwidth part (BWP) of the apparatus includes one or both of a first type of synchronization signal block (SSB) (e.g., a cell-defining (CD-SSB)) and second type of SSB (e.g., a non-cell-defining SSB (NCD-SSB)). The apparatus measures at least one of the first type of SSB that is periodically transmitted to a first group of UEs, a second type of SSB that is periodically transmitted within a time window to a second group of UEs, or both the first type of SSB and the second type of SSB for an operation based on a configuration of the operation, and performs the operation based on a measurement of at least one of the first type of SSB, the second type of SSB, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 11671930
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are disclosed. In one aspect, a user equipment (UE) determines to perform a synchronization procedure and receives at least one synchronization signal. The UE may generate a detection metric based at least in part on the at least one synchronization signal and compare the detection metric or detection metrics accumulated since determining to perform the synchronization procedure with a detection threshold. The detection threshold may be associated with the at least one synchronization signal utilized to determine whether the synchronization procedure can be terminated prior to receiving a predetermined number of synchronization signals. The UE may continue or terminate the synchronization procedure based at least in part on a result of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20230127220
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Aspects of the present disclosure describe a quick scanning method to reject global synchronization channel numbers (GSCNs) that do not include a synchronization signal block (SSB). The quick scanning method utilizes down-sampling techniques to reduce complexity associated with scanning many GSCNs for an SSB. For example, a user equipment (UE) may down-sample a signal to obtain a coarse signal subset (e.g., by using coarse bin sizes, sampling a portion of symbols). The UE may perform a fast Fourier Transform, along with one or more data processing techniques, to obtain a spectrogram corresponding to the signal. While the spectrogram may represent the signal in the frequency domain with reduced resolution, and may include energy information corresponding to different frequencies. The UE may utilize the spectrogram to examine frequencies corresponding to GSCNs to detect if an SSB is present.

  • Publication number: 20230126370
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE), such as a UE with reduced capabilities, may switch from a first bandwidth part (BWP) to a second BWP to receive system information for a carrier that includes the first and second BWPs. The UE may switch to the second BWP to receive system information based on a trigger (e.g., control signaling or an expiration of a timer) and then switch back to the first BWP without additional signaling to continue operation. In some examples, the UE may receive additional signaling (e.g., data, control signaling, reference signals) in the second BWP. In some examples, a BWP switching duration may include additional time to process the system information received in the second BWP, for example if the system information includes instructions to switch to a third BWP (e.g., rather than returning to the first BWP).

  • Publication number: 20230043974
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE). The UE detects at least one of a first type of reference signal (RS) or a second type of RS within an active bandwidth part (BWP). The UE then derives uplink (UL) transmission timing and corresponding accuracy requirement, based on which type of RS was detected. The UE then transmits UL signals based on the derived UL transmission timing and the corresponding accuracy requirement.

  • Publication number: 20220417997
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support random-access occasion (RO) selection for reduced-capability (RedCap) user equipment (UEs). A RedCap UE operating in a half-duplex mode may use the techniques described herein to efficiently select an RO in which to transmit a random-access preamble based on a duration between a latest received downlink transmission and the RO satisfying a threshold duration. The UE may receive system information mapping a set of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to a set of ROs. The UE may then select an RO from the set of ROs in which to transmit the random-access preamble such that the UE has sufficient time to transition from a receive mode to a transmit mode to transmit the random-access preamble.

  • Publication number: 20220231820
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A frame, scheduling instance, scheduling period etc. may include a set of downlink subframes and a set of uplink subframes. At least one control message transmitted in a downlink subframe may schedule a set of data messages in the downlink subframes of the frame. The downlink subframe may also include data messages scheduled by a control message of a previous frame. Further, feedback timings for data messages of the frame may be determined based on the corresponding control messages (e.g., from the current frame and the previous frame). Feedback responses corresponding to the data messages may be transmitted in a bundled manner in the set of uplink subframes. Using this cross-frame scheduling technique, the resources of a frame may be efficiently utilized.

  • Patent number: 11272496
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may retune from a first narrowband carrier to a second narrowband carrier. The UE may determine to retune in one or more symbols of either a first narrowband subframe or a second narrowband subframe based on the number of symbols for the UE to retune and a number of other factors. The other factors may include the start symbol of a downlink channel scheduled in the second narrowband subframe, the number of antenna ports configured for the UE, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) identifier (ID), coding rate or effective coding rate, among others. The UE may determine to retune in the first narrowband subframe, the second narrowband subframe, or in both subframes in order to utilize reference signals transmitted to the UE and reception of all downlink messages scheduled for the UE.
