  • Patent number: 9495663
Abstract: In one implementation, proximity of a possible meeting participant is used to initiate joining the meeting. A host device or other device detects the presence of a possible meeting participant in a room, conference center, or other region. In response, an invite is sent for joining the meeting. The proximity based invitation may remove the requirement of the possible participant from having to find a previous message with the meeting invitation for joining and/or the requirement of the host to manually invite the possible participant. From the perspective of the possible participant, merely being in the proximity of the meeting may be enough to initiate joining, to receive an invite, and/or to join a meeting.

  • Publication number: 20120304078
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a contact list displayed on a display screen, the contact list being arranged to display a contact associated with a user. The method also includes identifying the contact having an associated first presence status indicator, and activating the first presence status indicator. The first presence status indicator indicates a participation of the contact in a meeting, and is presented on the display screen. Activating the first presence status indicator causes information arranged to enable a user to join the meeting to be presented on the display screen.

  • Patent number: 7284036
Abstract: Apparatus for wirelessly downloading MP3 files from the Internet comprising a WAP network, a music server, an MP3 content site, and a wireless MP3 player for establishing data communications through the WAP network. In operation, the MP3 player establishes data communication with the music server through the WAP network and the Internet. Data is input into the wireless MP3 player that defines particular music desired by a user to instruct the music server to effect a search of the MP3 content sites to locate MP3 files relating to the desired music. The MP3 player displays at least one title of an MP3 file located in the search. The MP3 player operates to select the title thereby instructing the music server to upload an MP3 file that corresponds to the selected title, and download the uploaded MP3 file to the wireless MP3 player.

  • Publication number: 20030121059
Abstract: A method and apparatus for causing a television to display a reminder message previously entered by a user and stored into a handheld device or another device having memory. The user uses a keyboard on the handheld device to enter reminder information into the handheld device, which may be a remote control electronic device. The entered reminder information is stored and transmitted at the appropriate time for display on the television which generates a visual text message signal superimposed on a portion of the television's normal programming.

  • Patent number: 6338085
Abstract: In general, the invention provides for on-demand access to web pages that are stored remote from, and independent of, a web page service provider. In a preferred embodiment, the web page service provider provides an index that contains a reference to more detailed web pages. The more detailed web pages are stored local to the party supplying the web pages, for example, on a computer located at a client's site. When a user of the web page service initiates a request for a more detailed web page, the web page service telephones the computer at the client's site, uploads the requested web page, and provides it to the user. The index can be based on geographic information, thereby providing for web page access based on the locale of the client and the user.

  • Patent number: 6295647
Abstract: In a digital television broadcast that contains executable code segments that are associated with specific video segments, a context duration time is defined for each executable component. The context duration time is determined so as to correspond to the context of the video segment that is associated with the executable component. In a preferred embodiment, the context duration time for the executable component is determined when the corresponding video segment is being prepared for encoding into the transport stream. The context duration time is subsequently included in the encoding of the executable component in the transport stream. When the executable component is decoded from the transport stream, the context duration time is used to effect a termination of the executable component after the context duration time has elapsed.
