  • Patent number: 9728787
Abstract: A current collecting structure for which the installation space for current collecting plates is not increased more than necessary even if the number of electrodes to be stacked is increased to increase the capacity of a secondary battery is provided. Positive current collecting plates 41a to 41j constituting a positive current collecting plate stacking portion 27 are bent at bent portions 47a to 47j to constitute fixed portions 43a to 43j and welded portions 45a to 45j, respectively. The angles of the bent portions 47a to 47e are 80°, 90°, 100°, 110°, and 120°, respectively. The angles of the bent portions 47f to 47j are 120°, 110°, 100°, 90°, and 80°, respectively. Negative current collecting plates are also bent in the same manner.

  • Patent number: 9692032
Abstract: A thin film is used in a metallic collector in order to increase the volume energy density. However, the strength of the thin film is low, so when a negative plate or a positive plate is directly joined to a terminal base portion, even an insignificant load might cause damage, such as cutting of the metallic collector. Even in a structure where the metallic collector is joined to a highly-conductive plate-like metal or a highly-conductive plate-like resin, and where the collecting plate is joined to a terminal base portion, the connection between the collecting plate and the terminal base portion affects the battery properties.

  • Patent number: 9240576
Abstract: If a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a seal structure between a lid and an electrode terminal in which a seal member is compressed by fastening a nut, the nut may be loosened to make the amount of compression of the seal member insufficient to reduce the seal performance even if the nut is fastened enough to obtain an appropriate amount of compression of the seal member at the time of manufacture of the battery. A battery case has an opening, and houses an electrode group and an organic electrolyte. A lid is fastened to the battery case, and tightly seals the opening of the battery case. An electrode terminal is electrically connected to the electrode group. The lid and the electrode terminal face each other via an elastic member.

  • Patent number: 9065098
Abstract: A safety valve is disposed to cover at least a portion of the center line of the lid plate between the pair of terminals for the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The distance from the center line of the lid plate to end portions of the components to be energized on the safety valve side is equal to or less than the distance from the center line of the lid plate to the outermost circumference of the safety valve. The shadow area obtained by projecting an opening portion of the safety valve in operation onto the plane of the lid plate does not overlap with the respective shadow areas obtained by projecting the electrically connected components, such as the external output terminals for the positive electrode and the negative electrode, onto the plane of the lid plate.

  • Publication number: 20130316201
Abstract: There is proposed a secondary battery with a large capacity that excels in safety by causing a safety valve to reliably operate to immediately discharge gas produced in the battery in a limited battery space for the purpose of increasing the capacity and the energy density of the battery. The present invention provides a secondary battery with a high battery capacity of 100 Ah or more. A cleavage valve 10 is formed with an opening pressure of 0.2 to 1.5 MPa. In addition, the cleavage valve 10 is configured such that the region provided with the cleavage valve 10 (safety valve region) occupies an area of 0.025 to 0.066 cm2 per 1 Ah of the battery capacity.
