  • Publication number: 20240091456
Abstract: A medication delivery device includes a disposable portion and a reusable portion. The disposable portion includes a therapeutic agent delivery assembly, and the therapeutic agent delivery assembly includes a needle. The therapeutic agent delivery assembly is translatable from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration. The reusable portion includes a first rack and pinion mechanism and a second rack and pinion mechanism. The first rack and pinion mechanism is actuatable to translate the therapeutic agent delivery assembly from the stowed configuration to the deployed configuration. The second rack and pinion mechanism is actuatable to translate a plunger and thereby cause the therapeutic agent delivery assembly to deliver a therapeutic agent from the needle.

  • Publication number: 20240033445
Abstract: A needle assembly configured to be part of a drug delivery device comprises a plurality of extendable and retractable needles. The needles are fluidly coupled when extended, and fluidly decoupled when retracted. When the needles are extended, a first needle pierces a patient's skin, and a second needle pierces a septum of a drug cartridge to deliver a medication. Once the medication has been delivered, the needles may then retract within a needle assembly housing. The needle assembly may also be part of a partially disposable drug delivery device and may be used with multiple different drug cartridges. Multiple embodiments of the needle assembly are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20240033446
Abstract: A needle assembly configured to be part of a drug delivery device comprises a plurality of extendable and retractable needles. The needles are fluidly coupled by a flexible connector, which is configured to maintain fluid connection between the needles throughout their movement. When the needles are extended, a first needle pierces a patient's skin, and a second needle pierces a septum of a drug container to deliver a medication. Once the medication has been delivered, the needles may then retract within a needle assembly housing. The needle assembly may also be part of a partially disposable drug delivery device and may be used with multiple different drug cartridges. Multiple embodiments of the needle assembly are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20230256159
Abstract: A drug delivery device may include a cassette with a needle assembly and a cartridge. The cassette is configured to couple and decouple from a reusable module. The device may also comprise an orientation mechanism to orient the cassette in relation to another device, such as a reusable housing. The device may comprise an extendable and retractable needle assembly. The cassette configuration is adapted to have a stopper with a short travel (no more than 14 mm) to deliver 1 mL of medication. The cassette may have a ratio of height to diameter from 2:1 to 1:1. The cassette may include a pair of drivable interfaces for being driven to actuate the stopper to expel medication and to drive the needle assembly between a retracted and extended configuration for controlled fluid communication between the needle and reservoir.

  • Patent number: 8984929
Abstract: A pressure indicating device for detecting and isolating leakage of toxic and/or pyrophoric gasses from within various packages is disclosed. The device can affix to a user port of a cylinder package. The device has a flexible disc-like structure which is fine tuned to outwardly flex in response to a build-up of pressure of the gas exerted against the disc-like structure. The flexed disc contacts a movable pin and pushes the push outwards from within the device. The outward movement of the pin pierces a paper seal extending over the device, thereby indicating a leak from within the valving of the package. The device withstands the pressure exerted against it, thereby also isolating the leak of the pressurized gas.
