  • Patent number: 6309364
Abstract: The invention concerns a massage and skin suction apparatus comprising a housing whereof part (1a) of the wall is shaped to be used as a prehensile element and whereof the other part comprises at least a pair of parallel massaging rollers (6, 7) spaced from each other, each roller being mounted pivoting about its axis of revolution, said rollers (6, 7) being associated with means for driving them in rotation when they are in contact with the skin tissue, to exert thereon two opposed forces for pulling a portion of said tissue in the space separating them, in order to pinch it and a chamber connected to a suction source and provided with a suction aperture (4a), said suction aperture (4a) and said pair of massaging rollers (6, 7) being arranged on said housing for placing them simultaneously in contact with a portion of the skin tissue. The invention is characterised in that the edge of said suction aperture (4a) extends laterally at the peripheral surface of one (7) of said rollers (6, 7).

  • Patent number: 6176862
Abstract: A hair-removing device composed of a hair-removal roller driven in rotation by a motor around an axis of rotation arranged behind a housing window, a control mechanism for successively leading tweezing blades to close against one another in order to tweeze hairs to be plucked and then to separate from one another and a pain-soothing device composed of elements mounted on the roller. The elements are mounted in a fixed position on the roller and each element has at least one protuberance extending beyond a virtual cylinder coaxial with said roller and in which are inscribed said tweezing edges of said tweezing blades, and each protuberance has an outer end that is inclined or rounded along a plane that is transverse to the axis of rotation of the roller and that passes through the element from which the protuberance extends.

  • Patent number: 5509929
Abstract: A urethral probe having a front part and a rear part, and a microwave antenna connected to an external device for generating microwaves. The microwave antenna has its primary active heating part arranged in the urethral probe to be directed onto the prostatic tissues located at least at the level of the bladder neck in the working position. The urethral probe constitutes an essential element of a device for the therapeutic treatment of tissues by thermotherapy, more particularly tissues of the bladder neck of the bladder of a human being.

  • Patent number: 5404881
Abstract: A device constituting a transrectal probe comprises a probe body made of a flexible self-supporting polymer material whose degree of flexibility is designed to enable it to comply with the shape of the rectum while having substantially no compression effect on the rectum when inserted therein; the degree of flexibility preferably being defined by a hardness on the Shore A scale of less than about 90. The invention makes it possible to achieve accurate, safe, and reliable positioning of an instrument for detection or therapeutic treatment level with an organ to be observed or treated, and in particular the prostate.

  • Patent number: 5178148
Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring method for automatically measuring the volume of a tumor or of a gland, and also to a measuring device. The measuring device comprises an endocavitary detector probe, in particular a transrectal probe, display means, the display means including an image-forming screen forming images of the tumor or of the gland as provided by the probe, outline-marking means for marking the outline of the image of the tumor or of the gland on the image-forming screen, thereby enabling a marked outline to be obtained, computer means for calculating the volume of the tumor or of the gland on the basis of the marked outline, and optional means for storing the marked outline. The invention makes it very easy for a practitioner to determine the volume of a tumor or of a gland to be treated.
