  • Patent number: 7837715
Abstract: A connecting assembly for spinal osteosynthesis has a bone anchoring element including a connection zone designed to co-operate with a connecting device. The connecting device comprises in its lower part a spherical shape designed to enable the connecting device to be freely positioned in a connector or in a linking element having a cavity with matching shape, the spherical shape forming a stop element for longitudinal positioning with the connector or with the linking element.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 2000
Date of Patent: November 23, 2010
    Assignee: Spinevision S.A.
Inventors: Dominique Petit, Stephane Bette, Muriel Cazin
  • Patent number: 7651516
Abstract: A connection assembly for spinal osteosynthesis has a bone-anchor having a connection zone intended to cooperate with a connection device, in which the connection device has, in its lower part, a spherical shape in order to permit a free positioning of the connection device in connector. The connector has a cavity of complementary shape to the spherical shape. This spherical shape forms a limit of longitudinal positioning with the connector.

  • Publication number: 20040092930
Abstract: The present invention concerns a connection assembly for spinal osteosynthesis and a method permitting use of this assembly, said assembly comprising a bone-anchoring means having a connection zone (29) intended to cooperate with a connection means, in which the connection means has, in its lower part, a spherical shape (20) in order to permit a free positioning of the connection means in a connector (8), said connector having a cavity of complementary shape to said spherical shape, this spherical shape (20) forming a limit of longitudinal positioning with the connector (8).

  • Patent number: 6102912
Abstract: A vertebral rod for fixation of a spine, the rod defining an outer cross section and including a detachable end portion also defining the same outer cross section. In one embodiment, the detachable end portion is connected to the remainder of the rod by a region of reduced strength. The region of reduced strength forms a fracture initiator defining an area of reduced outer cross section so that the detachable end portion can be broken off. In another embodiment, the rod defines a threaded opening and a threaded spigot, each extending along the longitudinal axis of the rod. The spigot threadedly engages the opening to releasably connect the detachable end portion to the remainder of the rod. In either embodiment, the detachable end portion is configured to receive a driving tool for removing the detachable end portion from the remainder of the rod.
