Patents by Inventor Murphy R. Alexander

Murphy R. Alexander has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20250144479
Abstract: The invention described herein is an iron-type golf club head having a back cavity and a multi-section back cavity insert that preserves more strikeface flexibility and energy return to the golf ball. Additionally, the back cavity insert includes a damping member that mitigates undesirable vibrations produced after the golf club head impacts a golf ball. In some embodiments, the damping member includes an extension tip or arm that contacts an undercut of the golf club head.

  • Publication number: 20240316427
Abstract: Embodiments of an iron-type golf club head comprising a high moment of inertia and a damping system. The damping system includes an insert covering a lower portion of the back face and a badge covering an upper portion of the back face. The damping system covers a large proportion of the back face and provides a club head with desirable sound and feel characteristics.

Inventors: Travis D. Milleman, Matthew T. Schier, Murphy R. Alexander
  • Publication number: 20240207695
Abstract: Embodiments of putter-type golf club head comprising a striking surface capable of achieving consistent ball speeds across the striking surface to account for various ball impact locations are described herein. The striking surface has at least two materials that differ in concentration away from the geometric center of the striking surface to provide this consistency. Consistent (or uniform) ball speed is achieved throughout the striking surface as the portion of the golf ball that contacts the striking surface interacts with at least two materials having a differing material characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20240075359
Abstract: Embodiments of multi-component putters comprising an upper portion and a lower portion are described herein. The upper portion is formed from a first material having a first density and the lower portion is formed from a second material having a second density. The first density is less than the second density. The upper portion is affixed to the lower portion via an adhesive or a combination of adhesives and interlocking geometry. The multi-component putter design provides increased forgiveness and moment of inertia compared to a putter formed from a single material.
