    Abstract: A hearing aid having a stereophonic microphone mounted on a flexible base and an adhesive for adhering it to the top of the head. This substantially eliminates the shadow effect encountered when two separate hearing aids are used, one for each ear, which reduces the ability of the wearer to locate the source of sounds originating at an angle from a vertical central plane passing through the nose and axis of the wearer.

    Abstract: A flexible sheet material shaped article comprises a thermoplastic material having a plurality of spaced breathing apertures extending through the thickness thereof, each breathing aperture filled with a porous fibrous material. The flexible sheet material shaped article is formed by utilizing a vertical mold, and hanging a plurality of spaced strands of porous fibrous material from the top of the mold. The mold has a plan or cross-sectional shape corresponding to the shape of the article being provided. The mold is then filled with liquid thermoplastic material, and after cooling a slab of thermoplastic material with strands of fibrous material is produced. The slab is then sliced in a dimension perpendicular to the dimension in which the strands extend, and to the desired thickness to provide the flexible sheet material shaped article.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle light system provides constant lighting or directional indication in a simple and effective manner, and keeps the lens clean so that it can be seen even under inclement weather conditions or the like. A hollow cylinder of transparent material, which may have alternating axially extending strips of different color, is mounted in a motor vehicle for rotation about a horizontal or vertical axis, with one or more light bulbs disposed in its hollow interior. A brush is stationarily mounted with respect to the motor vehicle, the brush bristles engaging the external periphery of the cylinder to keep it clean as the cylinder is rotated with respect to the brush, and the motor vehicle. A motor for rotating the cylinder may be series connected with the light bulb(s) within the cylinder.

    Abstract: A method and system for dispersing oil in the event of an oil leak into a body of water from an oil tanker or an oil drilling platform. There is provided structure for detecting the existence of a leak from a container of oil generally surrounded by a body of water into which the oil is leaking; structure for storing an oil dispersant at the site of the leak; and structure responsive to the occurrence of the leak, for automatically causing the dispersant to be released from the containment structure into the leaking oil. In an oil tanker, the system and method may be implemented by providing structure for detecting a leak in the oil tank wall, suspending a container of dispersant inside the oil tank, and providing structure for rupturing the dispersant container in response to the detection of a leak so that dispersant is caused to mix with the oil in the tank before the oil leaks therefrom.
