  • Patent number: 6315140
Abstract: A bottle/cap assembly with sweep-and-drain action includes a bottle, a cap and a sweep-and-drain mechanism. The bottle has in series, from the bottom to the top, a closed bottom, a body sidewall, a cylindrical neck sidewall, and an open top. The cap is configured and dimensioned to be rotatably received about the neck sidewall and includes a closed cap top to close the open top and prevent egress of liquid from within the bottle. The sweep-and-drain mechanism includes (i) a circumferentially spaced plurality of vertically extending grooves or slots in the bottle extending downwardly from the open top through said neck sidewall, and (ii) a circumferentially spaced plurality of radially extending vanes or wipers projecting downwardly from the closed cap top towards the open top.

  • Patent number: 5881743
Abstract: A co-molded makeup applicator assembly includes a resilient body and a rigid handle cover. The generally elongated and unitarily molded body is formed of a resilient material. The body has a first end and a second end, at least one of the first and second ends defining an applicator for applying makeup. The handle cover is co-molded over a portion of the body and is formed of generally rigid material. The handle cover cooperates with the body to form an integral handle and applicator assembly. Preferably, the handle cover is substantially coextensive with the body between the ends thereof and defines at least one longitudinally extending slot through which a portion of the body extends to facilitate non-slip grasping of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4065539
Abstract: A method of molding plastic containers of the type having enclosure portions which are adapted to be hingedly connected to one another. One embodiment of the invention involves a method for making a mirror-containing, cosmetic compact, comprising the steps of placing a mirror component face down on a mirror support of one of two cavity-defining molding dies, holding the mirror component against the mirror support, bringing both dies together, and injection molten plastic into the die cavities to cause it to back up and also surround the peripheral edge portions of the mirror so as to form one half of the compact. The method further includes, either at a later time or else simultaneously, the additional step of placing a hinge part in a recess of one of the mold cavities adjacent the mirror, and causing molten plastic to flow around a portion of the hinge part whereby the latter will be held captive in the plastic in predetermined relation to the mirror and the molded compact half.
