    Abstract: A collapsible intermodal transport platform and methods for its operation are disclosed.     Abstract: An open, intermodal transport platform is disclosed. The invention comprises a standard ISO-length loading platform supported by main beams and crossmembers. The platform has ISO lifting and stacking fitments at its four corners for truck hauling, and also at positions 20-feet from centerline to align with rail well cars. The platform features two yokes, each comprising a post on either side of the platform, connected by a top beam. The posts are connected to, and translate along the main beam between positions required for rail hauling and intermodal stacking, and positions at the ends of the platform. From the ends of the platform, the yokes can be lowered to the platform, and will provide a stacking block to support other platforms.

The platform has ISO lifting and stacking fitments at its four corners. The platform has extendable supplemental platforms at each end, the extendable supplemental platforms fitting beneath the deck bed of the platform, or extendable to position stacking fitments at over-the-road trailer positions for North American fleet. Inner stacking fitments may laterally expand and retract so as to slide underneath the deck bed between the main beams. In some embodiments the platform includes posts that extend upward to position ISO lifting fitments at standard heights, such as under hydraulic power.

    Abstract: A collapsible freight container that is lightweight, and which includes improvements to improve ease of loading and storage. Collapsible support yokes are attached along the side edges of the freight deck and are configured to be movable between storage, transport and loading positions. With the support yokes struck down into their storage positions, the collapsed container takes on a minimum space configuration and can be densely stored or transported. The freight container is further adapted to be stackable when loaded. The container is configured to be moveable with existing standard top lifting equipment in use in the intermodal freight handling industry. Methods of transport, loading and storage using this container are also disclosed.
