  • Patent number: 8780232
Abstract: A method of analyzing images captured using an imaging device is provided herein. The analysis provides suggestions for changing a parameter of the imaging device during subsequent image capture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 8, 2010
Date of Patent: July 15, 2014
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Murray D. Craig, Gregory Hofer, Susan E. Manson, Amy E. Battles
  • Patent number: 8004584
Abstract: A user captures a digital image, which is then selected for post-processing within the image capture device. The image capture device decompresses the full size image, and buffers any metadata associated with the image. As a user applies each post-processing effect to the image, effect parameters are added to the metadata for the image. Upon completion of post-processing the effect parameters from the metadata are stored in a separate custom effect file. The image capture device then is able to perform the series of effects upon subsequent images after reading the effect parameters from the custom effect file.

Date of Patent: August 23, 2011
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Murray D. Craig, Robert P. Cazier, Benjamin D. Kimbell
  • Patent number: 7920167
Abstract: A user provides a graphical representation of a desired image capture device control parameter curve with respect to time. A digital image of the graphical representation of a desired image capture device control parameter curve is captured. The digital image is analyzed by a processor that generates necessary control parameters as defined by the desired image capture device control parameter curve. The processor uses the resulting control parameters to control an image capture device during an image capture session.

  • Patent number: 7593023
Abstract: An image capture device includes a processor configured to generate pseudo-random numbers. Optionally, these pseudo-random numbers may use a portion of an image as a seed for the random number generator. These random numbers are used in the post-processing of digital images to create a variety pseudo-random image effects such as; unique frame colors, line thicknesses, line and/or shape placements, image copies, filter strengths, shape choices and color blends. These effects are applied to a selected digital image creating a unique final image.

  • Patent number: 7545996
Abstract: A user provides a graphical representation of a desired image post-processing parameter curve. A first digital image of the graphical representation of a desired image post-processing parameter curve is captured. The first digital image is analyzed by an image processor that generates necessary post-processing parameters as defined by the desired image post-processing parameter curve. The image processor uses the resulting post-processing parameters to modify a second digital image.

  • Patent number: 7466321
Abstract: A user provides a plurality of video frames for processing, and selects a cartoon color palette. The color of all selected pixels within all selected video frames is changed to that of the closest match in color within the cartoon color palette and is stored in a memory. Optionally, the user may create a custom cartoon color palette, and may select less than all of the pixels in any given video frame for processing.

  • Patent number: 7454085
Abstract: First and second digital images are provided. A user is given the choice of using the first image as a texture or a border for the second digital image. A portion of the first image may be selected for use as the texture or border. As necessary, the first and second images may be resized. The two images are overlayed (with appropriate amounts of transparency for the generation of textures). If necessary, the first image may be tiled to completely cover the second image (for a texture), or to surround the second image (for a border).

  • Publication number: 20080022202
Abstract: A method comprises selecting a first center point for a first portion of an image, copying the first portion, centered about the first center point, to a buffer; and inverting the copied first portion about a first edge of said portion.
