  • Publication number: 20070133754
Abstract: A system and method are provided for modifying an existing HDSL system to allow for remote access to performance monitoring information stored on each HDSL circuit card. This is accomplished by attaching a cable harness to an existing chassis. A cable harness containing a number of data lines equal to the number of circuit cards in the chassis is housed in a moveable bar which protects the harness and allows removal or insertion of HDSL circuit cards. Each data line attaches to a data port on the individual circuit cards, and the cable harness terminates to a multiplexer (shelf multiplexing unit). A system controller unit provides power and signaling to the shelf multiplexing unit, instructing the multiplexing unit to select an individual data line connected to an individual circuit card. Then utilizing a mutually agreed upon communications means, the system controller unit extends the HDSL data port connection to a remote location.

  • Patent number: 5157718
Abstract: An interface adapter is disclosed for utilization with a conventional toll operator position system having a keyboard, video display and controller which interface adapter interface with the TOPS position and external data bases and audio response units in a manner to permit the TOPS position to additionally perform such functions as directory assistance, order entry and line message delivery. The interface adapter includes first and second switching means to intercept the keyboard and video data paths of the TOPS position to isolate the controller and includes a control processor in communication with the external data bases and audio response units which is programmed to respond upon command from the keyboard to access the external data bases and audio response units as required and to communicate such data or audio response to the appropriate terminus.

  • Patent number: 5023904
Abstract: A direct telephone dialing ordering system and method is disclosed wherein a calling customer can order products and/or services from a given vendor without voice interchange. The system operates in a local Access and Transport Area (LATA) switching network which has Feature Group D services utilizing a predetermined dialing plan. The system is positioned within the LATA and is assigned a Feature Group D interexchange carrier number. In accordance with the dialing plan of the Feature Group D service, certain digits of the originating call are utilized to direct the call to the system within the LATA to a point of termination wherein the system appears as an interexchange carrier. The system is then free to utilize the remaining digits of the originating call for determination of variables such as vendor, product, grade and the like designations.

  • Patent number: 4797913
Abstract: A direct telephone dialing ordering system is disclosed wherein a calling customer can order products and/or services from a given vendor without voice interchange. The system operates in a Local Access and Transport Area (LATA) switching network which has Feature Group D services utilizing the 15 digit domestic dialing plan. The system is positioned within the LATA and is assigned a Feature Group D interexchange carrier number. An originating call utilizing the 15 digit domestic dialing plan of the Feature Group D service is directed to the system within the LATA to a point of termination as an interexchange carrier. The system is then free to utilize the remaining 10 digits of the originating call for determination of variables such as vendor, product, grade and the like designations. The Feature Group D Automatic Number Identification (ANI) for the calling customer is likewise passed on to the system for customer identification, credit verification and the like.
