  • Patent number: 5332927
Abstract: An auxiliary power supply system includes an internal combustion engine driving an alternator the output of which is rectified and supplied to DC bus lines across which a storage battery is connected. The DC bus lines may supply a consuming device such as an uninterruptible power supply or telecommunications system. The voltage across the bus lines is sensed and when the voltage drops below a selected value, indicating that the consuming devices is drawing power from the battery beyond a desired limit, the engine is turned on for a period of time to warm it up, during which the power from the generator is not supplied to the DC bus lines. Thereafter, the generator supplies power to the DC bus lines to supply the consuming device and partially recharge the battery until the consuming device is no longer drawing power, after which the engine is shut off.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 25, 1993
Date of Patent: July 26, 1994
    Assignee: Best Power Technology, Inc.
Inventors: Steven Paul, Murray Leonard, Mark Schultz, Kevin Mengelt, Robert Colburn

  • Patent number: 4441480
Abstract: A gas grill having a visible indicator for indicating ignition of the grill burner. The indicating device includes a sensing device mounted adjacent the burner on a common bracket with a burner igniter. The control for the igniter is mounted in a common housing with the ignition indicator. An encapsulated spark gap, neon bulb, or similar device is connected with the spark igniter for indicating that a spark has jumped an electrode gap.

  • Patent number: 4288210
Abstract: A spark igniter for gas grills includes a gas collector mountable on the grill housing adjacent a gas burner and having a collector inlet for receiving gas from the burner. An adjustable mounting device attached to the collector provides vertical adjustment of the collector for positioning the collector inlet at a proper elevation for receiving gas from the burner. The adjustable mounting device also serves to attach an electrode to the collector and position the electrode tip in a predetermined location for defining a spark gap.

Inventors: Murray Leonard, Herbert F. Jugl
  • Patent number: 4266930
Abstract: A spark igniter for gas burners includes a gas collector having a passage extending between open front and rear ends. The open front end is substantially larger than the open rear end, and is positionable adjacent a gas burner for receiving gas therefrom. Gas flows into the open front end of the collector and mixes with air to form a combustible mixture. A spark igniter mounted within the gas collector passage ignites the mixture to produce a flame for igniting the gas burner. The gas collector is metal and forms the ground electrode for the spark igniter, and has an integral mounting bracket thereon.

  • Patent number: 4103264
Abstract: In the manufacture of wave filters, such as FM filters, polarized piezoelectrically responsive wafers are provided, temporarily, on the active regions thereof, with a removable material. Subsequent to the encapsulation of the wafer by a protective but porous coating, the filter is heated and the removable material sublimates through the porous coating establishing a wafer surface substantially free of residual impurities and leaving an uninterrupted cavity between the wafer and the coating in the active regions. The preferred sublimatable material is paradichlorobenzene.
