  • Patent number: 11873280
Abstract: Cross-linking agent(s), composition(s) made therefrom and use(s) thereof. For example, crosslinking agent(s) that are used to make composition(s) such as hydrogel material(s). Such materials are useful in the manufacture of biocompatible medical devices, for example, hydrogel materials having desirable physical properties for use as contact lense(s) and/or stimulating device(s).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 2021
Date of Patent: January 16, 2024
    Assignee: GL CHEMTEC VISION INC.
Inventors: Musa Alhakimi, Gamil Alhakimi, Lisa Studnicki
  • Publication number: 20210340336
Abstract: Hydrogel polymers for use, for example, in contact lenses, drug delivery systems and/or stimulating devices. In some embodiments, the hydrogel formulations comprise diluent(s) to improve the dehydration characteristics and mechanical properties of a hydrogel polymer formulation compared to those without diluent(s). The diluent(s) include, for example, water and hydrophilic diluent(s) such as humectants.

  • Publication number: 20200409176
Abstract: A lens comprises an internal cavity structure formed by dissolution of a soluble insert material. The internal soluble material may dissolve through a body of a lens such as a contact lens in order to form the cavity within the contact lens. The cavity within the lens can be shaped in many ways, and corresponds to the shape of the dissolved material, such that many internal cavity shapes can be readily fabricated within the contact lens. The insert can be placed in a mold with a pre-polymer material, and the pre-polymer material cured with the insert placed in the mold to form the lens body. The polymerized polymer may comprise a low expansion polymer in order to inhibit expansion of the lens when hydrated. The polymer may comprise a hydrogel when hydrated. The soft contact lens material comprises a sufficient amount of cross-linking to provide structure to the lens and shape the cavity.
