  • Publication number: 20190044561
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for proximity detection based on an electromagnetic field perturbation. In an example aspect, the apparatus includes an antenna array including at least two feed ports and a wireless transceiver coupled to the antenna array. The wireless transceiver is configured to generate an electromagnetic field via the antenna array. The wireless transceiver is also configured to receive energy from the electromagnetic field via the at least two feed ports. The wireless transceiver is additionally configured to adjust a transmission parameter based on the energy received via the at least two feed ports. The transmission parameter varies based on a range to an object that is present within the electromagnetic field.

  • Patent number: 9369886
Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a management module implemented in at least one of a memory or a processing device. The management module is configured to receive a signal associated with a value of a performance indicator that a first process module is configured to optimize using a metric. The management module is configured to optimize a value associated with the metric based at least in part on the value of the performance indicator that the first process module is configured to optimize and a value of a performance indicator that a second process module is configured to optimize using the metric. The management module is configured to send a signal to the first process module such that the first process module modifies a value of the metric based on the value associated with the metric.

  • Patent number: 8489031
Abstract: An apparatus, system, method and program detect and reduce interference in cell sites of a wireless communications network. A cell site from the cell sites of the wireless communications network is selected and signal code power measurements from mobile devices in the cell site are received so that the sources of signals being transmitted to the mobile devices can be determined. Interfering sources are determined based on the signal code power measurements and the active set of sources for the mobile devices. The signal code power measurements are summed and ranked, and interfering transmitters associated with the ranked signal code power measurements for the interfering sources are determined. The same procedure is repeated for all cell sites of the wireless communications network, and the transmitter that is an interfering source for the highest number of cell sites is selected as a problem (interfering) transmitter.

  • Patent number: 8340060
Abstract: A femtocell increases efficiency and coverage of a macrocellular network operating in a co-channel manner within the macrocell spectrum by selecting subcarriers for its mobile station using both the subcarrier allocation map received from the macrocell and a spectrum sensing operation. Interference is avoided by selecting only subcarriers not allocated by the macrocell and subcarriers allocated to users not nearby to the femtocell. Interference is eliminated from the received signals using co-channel interference avoidance techniques. Selection of subcarriers for femtocell use may take into consideration inter-carrier interference detected.

  • Publication number: 20120295605
Abstract: An apparatus, method and program reduce interference in interfered cell sites of a wireless communications network. A cell site is a region in which wireless communications are provided to mobile devices, and the interfered cell sites being cell sites where mobile devices are subject to interference signals from at least one interfering transmitter. A transmitter is selected from a list of interfering transmitters in need of adjustment and corresponding antennas. A critical zone is determined with respect to the selected transmitter. Parameters of the selected transmitter and the corresponding antenna are altered and performance of the wireless network in the critical zone around the problem transmitter and interference in the cell sites interfered by the problem transmitter are monitored. Altering of the parameters of the transmitter and the corresponding antenna is performed continuously until a desired interference reduction is achieved in the cell sites interfered by the selected transmitter.

  • Patent number: 8238463
Abstract: A method of receiving Multiple Input Multiple Output—Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Accessing (MIMO-OFDMA) signals using a single receiver rather than multiple receivers and performing measurements specific to various parts of MIMO-OFDMA systems using all measurable parameters of MIMO-OFDMA systems is disclosed. In addition, a method of receiving and completing impairment estimation of WiMAX MIMO signals using a single receiver according to the IEEE 802.16 standards is provided.

  • Patent number: 7652979
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for transmitting an ultrawideband (UWB) signal that is composed of an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) based signal that is transmitted in an underlay manner and an impulse radio based signal that is transmitted in an overlay manner. The system and method are effective in determining an interference temperature for each of multiple carriers within the UWB signal and classifying each one of the multiple carriers of the channel as being an interfered carrier or a non-interfered carrier based on the interference temperature for each one of multiple carriers. The desired signal is then transmitted on the interfered carriers at a signal power that is not greater than the power limit of the underlay UWB policy and on the non-interfered carriers at a signal power that is greater than the power limit of the underlay UWB policy.
