  • Patent number: 7481265
Abstract: An air cooler for power plants comprising a pressure vessel, in which is accommodated a coaxial arrangement containing a cylindrical central tube, a helical tube bundle surrounding the central tube and a cylindrical casing surrounding the tube bundle. The central tube extends, at one end of the coaxial arrangement, into a first space adjacent to the tube bundle and closed off outwardly by the casing. The central tube can be acted upon by air from outside the pressure vessel, via an air inlet connection piece, at the other end of the coaxial arrangement through a space adjacent to the tube bundle. Water can be fed into the tube bundle from an end of the coaxial arrangement and steam can be extracted from the tube bundle.

  • Patent number: 6233941
Abstract: A condensation system for the condensation of turbine exhaust steam has a condenser installation (25) in which a surface condenser (30) and a direct-contact condenser (35) work in combination. In this case, the two condensers (30, 35) are either arranged in a single common housing or are each arranged in a separate housing. In one embodiment, the condenser installation (25) is connected in a circulation circuit for the cooling media to a wet-dry cooling tower or hybrid cooling tower (40). In this case, the cooling water of the surface condenser (30) is recooled in the wet part (42) and the cooling condensate of the direct-contact condenser (35) is recooled in the dry part (41) of the hybrid cooling tower (40).

  • Patent number: 6056806
Abstract: An apparatus for the heating-up and degassing of make-up water by means of steam in a power station plant. The apparatus includes a steam condenser having a casing wall and a second casing wall mounted on the steam condenser. The casing walls are spaced apart and form a mixing chamber and a separation column, with the mixing chamber being located above the separation column. The mixing chamber includes a means for spraying oxygen-rich make-up water. A receiver is positioned to collect water from the separation column and includes a water outlet opening in fluid communication with an interior of the steam condenser. The steam condenser casing wall has a steam-inlet opening located between the receiver and the separation column through which steam flows into and through the separation column and into the mixing chamber due to a lower pressure prevailing in the first stage mixing chamber relative to a pressure in an interior of the condenser.

  • Patent number: 5975030
Abstract: A low-pressure feedwater preheater or heater in power station plants, heated with bleed steam and having a two-pass tube bundle of the tube sheet type of construction, has a carrier design for the tube bundle having side plates (9) running parallel to the tube bundle and one or more supporting plates (8) disposed perpendicularly to the tube bundle. In the center of the bundle between the cold and the hot leg, a partition (11) extends along the entire length of the bundle leg. Arranged on either side of the partition (11) are suction tubes (12) through which non-condensable gases are drawn off in the zones of lowest pressure. According to the invention, the supporting plates (8) are each made of a single piece and are thus continuous, and the partition (11) consists of individual sheet-metal parts which are connected to the supporting plates (8).

  • Patent number: 5203286
Abstract: An apparatus for heating and degassing water by means of steam, consisting of two columns (1, 17) with a co-current arrangement and counter-current arrangement of water and steam, and having packing or internals arranged therein, having a water distributor (11, 16) arranged at the top of each of the columns, having a water feed line (8) and a steam feed line (9), having a flushing steam feed line (22) arranged below the counter-current column and a deaeration line (15), located between the two columns, for the gas/steam mixture which is to be extracted. The lines lead into housings which are joined above, between and below the preferably cylindrical columns to the latter. In the upper part of the apparatus, a mixing chamber (5) is provided into which the water to be degassed is introduced via spray nozzles (7).
