  • Patent number: 6845486
Abstract: User support method and user support apparatus for facilitating a user to find desired information from an enormous size of Web sites in a user friendly manner so as to make efficient use thereof. A front processor functions at a level of interface with a user. A middle processor processes and stores information to be supplied to the user via the front processor. The front processor stores object data which describe a virtual three-dimensional space containing a plurality of virtual rooms, which respectively correspond to different concepts, and a specialized agent which performs a service related to the concept corresponding to each of the rooms. When the service is requested by the user, the specialized agent asks the middle processor about information necessary for providing the service.

  • Publication number: 20020073176
Abstract: A user support system using an agent technology is provided. An entrance server identifies a user utterance by matching it with a collection of anticipated user utterances. A specialized server to respond to the user utterance is determined according to the identified user utterance. The specialized server has a collection of action patterns of an agent for responding to the user utterance. The agent supports the user to search information or navigates the user to access desired information by friendly talking with the user. Information providers can sponsor the agent. When the agent displays information requested by the user, information related to the sponsors, particularly their advertisements, will be outstandingly displayed.

  • Publication number: 20020052913
Abstract: A user support function is realized in a user terminal. The function may be implemented in the user terminal or sent from a server. The function helps the user using characters activated by agent programs. Each character has a specific area to cover as an expert. When the user needs restaurant information, a “gourmet” character appears on the screen to respond to the user request. The character analyzes the user request through text search.

  • Publication number: 20020002600
Abstract: An information retrieval apparatus that enables users to search information with regionality is provided. When a user inputs search terms for searching, a place-name is extracted from the search terms. Furthermore, the apparatus extracts another place-name of a region that is judged to be within a reachable area from the region indicated by the extracted place-name. Regional information is searched using the extracted place-name and the selected place-name. The user may search life-related information with regionality at his/her residence. The user registers the items of the life-related information beforehand. When the user moves to a new address, the apparatus searches life-related information of the new address based on the registered items and presents the updated information to the user.

  • Patent number: 5488564
Abstract: A numerical control (NC) machine tool is controlled by a machining program, which gives the machine tool instructions with respect to the machining of a locus on a workpiece, machining conditions and the like, and responds to a variety of input data which may be stored or registered in a manner that comprises a schedule run, and includes a schedule skip capability. The schedule skipping capability permits portions of the scheduled run to be skipped at the occurrence of an event, such as an alarm, but allows machining to be continued without stopping the schedule run. The scheduled run may skip to a new program, to commands for changing tools, pallets, workpieces and the like, or to conduct a measurement schedule run in association with the machining run. The memory for storing a measurement schedule corresponding to a machining schedule allows any measurement schedule to be utilized without impairing machining productivity greatly.

  • Patent number: 5428547
Abstract: A numerical control unit and method of operation therefor which pre-announces scheduled parts ordering, maintenance, loading, unloading and inspection times by display or audio notice to an operator. On the basis of a programmed control of the machine in block form and a reference time of day (including day, week, month, year etc.) generated by a clock, time related information is stored and the time for performance of time-related events are calculated. The stored time-related information can include (i) the expected run time for the entire machining program or for a portion of the program until the occurrence of a specific program event, such as the execution of a specified command; (if) the expected schedule times for machine operation and inspection events, such as power-on/off, run start, cutting start, etc.; and (iii), the messages related to operational events and machine conditions.
