  • Patent number: 6016948
Abstract: A method of forming a ridge around the outer circumference of a spigot formed at an end of a pipe. A ring having a certain wall thickness in its radial direction and formed with a peripheral groove on its outer circumference is placed around the outer circumference of the spigot. Then molten metal is poured into the peripheral groove, so that the bottom of the peripheral groove and the surface of the spigot are melted, thus joining the ring and spigot together.

  • Patent number: 5960835
Abstract: A cast iron pipe surface-modified for preventing corrosion and a method of modifying the pipe surface for corrosion prevention. A corrosion preventive coating is formed on the surface of the iron material of the pipe. The corrosion preventive coating is made up of an aluminum alloy containing not less than 5 wt % but not more than 25 wt % of Mn, the remainder being Al, the aluminum alloy being such that the manganese is present as a supersaturated solid solution in an aluminum phase. The corrosion preventive coating is formed by thermally spraying a quenched aluminum alloy of the above noted composition onto the surface of the iron material of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5513794
Abstract: A method for fixing a stopper ring to the outer periphery of the spigot of a cast iron pipe for preventing separation of the pipe from another pipe. A single or plural annular grooves are formed on the inner periphery of the stopper ring, and a brazing filler material is fitted in the annular groove. The stopper ring with the annular groove in which is fitted the brazing filler material is fitted on the spigot of the pipe. Subsequently, the pipe is ferritically annealed and the stopper ring is simultaneously brazed to the spigot by the heat of annealing.

  • Patent number: 5346182
Abstract: A teeming trough for pouring molten metal into a mold. Cooling water jackets are formed at both sides of a horizontal body for molten metal teeming. Valves for adjusting cooling water feeds are disposed in cooling water feed paths for supplying cooling water into respective water cooling jackets. A lateral bend of the body at the forward end thereof is detected by a suitable sensor. The valves are controlled on the basis of the result of the sensor detection so that the balance between cooling water feeds to the water cooling jackets may be varied whereby a bend of the body can be corrected.
