  • Publication number: 20040062057
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device according to the present invention, an upper end portion of a lamp housing is fixed on a main supporter so that the lamp housing can be made to face a side edge of a light guide. Light that can cause bright lines is eliminated or minimized through absorption or scattering by a main supporter. The main supporter is also thermally insulating and is placed between the lamp housing and a liquid crystal panel. Further, a thermally conducting bottom cover is placed under the backlight. Therefore, heat generated from the lamp is effectively channeled away from the light guide to prevent liquid crystal panel deterioration. Still further, although the upper and lower surfaces of the light guide is tightly fit between the lamp housing and the main supporter, wrinkles on a sheet reflector are prevented because the sheet reflector is not stacked between the lamp housing and a lower surface of the light guide.

  • Patent number: 6538710
Abstract: In a backlight of a liquid crystal display device, an elastic projecting part is provided in the inner side of an frame surrounding a perimeter of a light guide. The elastic projecting part functions to elastically fix the light guide on a supporting member, so that despite oscillation or external impact, the light guide does not move. Such an arrangement prevents breakage of an enclosure that is caused by external impact, or damage to an optical film that is provided on the upper surface of the light guide. Wrinkling of the optical film, which is caused by deformation of the light guide at high temperature, can be prevented. Also, the light guide does not separate from the supporting member during jarring movement.

  • Publication number: 20030020849
Abstract: A backlight assembly of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device is disclosed, in which each edge of the diffusion and prism sheets is extended to upper surfaces of the metal reflecting plate and the mold frame, so that it is possible to prevent light emitted from a lamp from leaking into a liquid crystal panel without passing through one of the diffusion and prism sheet.

  • Publication number: 20030016312
Abstract: A structure for assembling lamp wires for a backlight into an LCD module is disclosed, in which the lamp wire for providing a power to a lamp is stably connected to the lamp. In the structure, a mold frame includes an opening formed at one portion slightly apart from one corner at a predetermined distance, for connecting and supporting wires connected to both ends of the lamp, the wires being folded or bent several times at different portions in the mold frame and being extracted to the outside of the LCD module through the opening. Meanwhile, an inserting recess is formed at the opening, and the wires connected together by the connector are inserted to the inserting recess.
