  • Publication number: 20150029917
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for not performing an inter-frequency measurement to reduce a current to be used by a terminal providing a multi carrier (MC) function or a carrier aggregation (CA) function. When the terminal satisfies predetermined conditions, the terminal may be operated in a single carrier mode in which the inter-frequency measurement is not performed and thus, a current to be used for the inter-frequency measurement may be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20130235740
Abstract: A method that uses a processor to manage a circuit switched fall back (CSFB) procedure includes connecting to a circuit switched network for the CSFB procedure, processing, using the processor, a voice call using the circuit switched network, and determining whether to register to a packet switched network according to a connection possibility of the packet switched network. A mobile terminal includes a first mobile communication modem to connect to a packet switched network, a second mobile communication modem to switch from the packet switched network to a circuit switched network, and a controller to determine whether to re-register to the packet switched network according to a connection possibility of the packet switched network.

  • Publication number: 20120172039
Abstract: A system and method for securing a lost terminal using a wireless network are provided. The system includes a lost terminal registration server to store unique terminal information of a lost terminal, and a terminal including a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) module to connect to the lost terminal registration server to determine whether the terminal is registered as a lost terminal in the lost terminal registration server. If the terminal is determined to be a lost terminal, then the lost terminal may be tracked and/or locked to secure the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20090268704
Abstract: A mobile communications system includes a base station that performs packet data communications with a terminal. The base station includes a communication unit that receives a data rate control (DRC) value and a message from the terminal, the message including pilot channel information detected from a pilot channel signal sent to the terminal from the base station; a packet data generating unit that generates packet data according to the DRC value; and a control unit determines a number of active sets based on the pilot channel information, and dynamically controls a DRC length based on the determined number of active sets. Also, the control unit controls the communication unit to transmit the dynamically controlled DRC length information to the terminal. Accordingly, the DRC length is dynamically controlled to be more compatible with a wireless environment.

  • Patent number: 7418257
Abstract: Disclosed is a technology for preventing a legitimate terminal's user from being damaged due to the fraudulent usage of a cloned terminal. A mobile communication terminal transmits authentication information containing terminal usage time information to a wireless network according to a voice call connection procedure, and performs a voice call release process upon receiving an authentication failure message from the wireless network in response to the authentication information.

  • Publication number: 20060045125
Abstract: Disclosed are a hybrid mobile communication terminal and a method of controlling operation modes of the terminal. The hybrid mobile communication terminal includes a first communication unit communicating with a first communication system capable of offering voice services and low-speed data transmission, a second communication unit communicating with a second communication system capable of offering high-speed data transmission, and a mode controller for controlling a switching operation between the first and second communication units, wherein the mode controller includes a preference access setup unit which sets so that a data call connection to the first communication system is attempted during a predetermined time interval when the mode controller fails to establish a call connection with the second communication system in a hybrid operation mode in which the mode controller alternately attempts to access the first and second communication systems using the first and second communication units.
