  • Patent number: 6873656
Abstract: A video encoding method and a computer-readable record media for performing the method are disclosed, in which in carrying out the video encoding, an intra updating technique is adopted by sorting out the blocks requiring an intra updating by utilizing the bit stream size information for each block, thereby maximizing the intra updating effect. The video encoding method includes the following steps. That is, at a first step, an encoding method for each frame of incoming images is selected, and the images are divided into blocks of a certain size. At a second step, either an intra coded block encoding or an inter coded block encoding is carried out depending on whether an encoding of a current frame and an inter coded encoding are needed or not, and whether an intra coded block is relevant or not. Further, blocks requiring an intra updating are sorted out by utilizing a bit stream size information for each block if the inter coded encoding is needed.

  • Publication number: 20040140994
Abstract: A video object segmentation method is disclosed in the present invention. This video object segmentation method is for correctly segmenting video objects. In the video object segmentation method, the video objects to be firstly appeared in a video sequence are segmented in manual or semi-manual, and then the consecutive video frames is automatically segmented by an object-tracking based on the moving of the primarily segmented video object. In other words, the video object segmentation method applicable to a video system, comprises a first step of primarily segmenting objects existing in a frame of video sequence manually or semi-manually; and a second step of automatically segmenting the objects within the consecutive frames. This video object segmentation method can be adapted to a video system.

  • Patent number: 6742009
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for carrying out a fast discrete cosine transform (DCT) with same positions of input and output data, and also a recording medium which is readable by a computer with a program loaded thereon, are disclosed. In the intermediate arithmetic procedure of the one-dimensional or two-dimensional forward or inverse DCT, the positions of the input and output data are made same, and therefore, an additional memory is not required. Specifically, the apparatus for carrying out the fast discrete cosine transform (DCT) with same positions of input and output data includes an input data sequence transposing means for transposing a sequence of an externally inputted input data by using a transposing matrix E. A butterfly arithmetic means carries out a butterfly arithmetic operation by using a Gt−1Bt−1. Gt−2Bt−2 . . . G0B0 matrix on a data obtained as a result of transposing the sequence of the input data by the input data sequence transposing means.

  • Patent number: 6707851
Abstract: A video object segmentation method applicable to a video system is presented. The method includes primarily segmenting objects existing in a frame of a video sequence manually or semi-manually. The objects within a video sequence including the primarily segmented object are automatically segmented. The method also determines whether any scene change is made between consecutive frames or any new object other than the primarily segmented object appears within the video sequence being automatically segmented, when repeatedly performing automatically segmenting the objects within the video sequence for consecutive frames. And, the method repeatedly performs primarily segmenting objects existing in a frame of a video sequence manually or semi-manually if it is determined that any scene change is made between consecutive frames or any new object other than the primarily segmented object appears within the video sequence being automatically segmented.

  • Publication number: 20030038760
Abstract: An apparatus and method for driving an electro-luminescence panel wherein pixels in a current driving type electrode-luminescence panel are pre-charged to change a storage voltage of the pixel into the corresponding voltage within a limited scanning time. In the apparatus, a plurality of electro-luminescence cells are arranged at crossings between gate lines and data lines. A gate driver is connected to the gate lines to sequentially drive the gate lines. A data driver is connected to the data lines to apply pixel signals, via the data lines, to the electro-luminescence cells. A pre-charger is provided within the data driver to pre-charge a current into the data lines before the pixel signals are applied via the data lines.
