  • Publication number: 20060158387
Abstract: A plasma display device determining whether to perform power recovery in address and sustain periods of each subfield according to the temperature of a plasma display panel. When the temperature is outside of a predetermined temperature range, the address voltage is applied by hard switching to the third electrode in order to select the discharge cell to be displayed among the discharge cells in the address period. The sustain discharge pulse voltage is applied by the hard switching to the first and second electrodes in a first group of the sustain period, the sustain period being divided into at least two groups. The sustain discharge pulse voltage is applied by inductor-capacitor resonance of a power recovery circuit to the first and second electrodes in a second group of the sustain period.

  • Publication number: 20060114184
Abstract: Driving a plasma display device by a plurality of subfields divided from a frame, when different driving waveforms are applied during reset periods of the plurality of subfields. A defective address operation that may be caused by an unstable wall charge state remaining at the end of the reset period may be prevented by adjusting the bias voltage applied to sustain electrodes, during the address periods, depending on the driving waveforms of the preceding reset periods.

  • Publication number: 20050264488
Abstract: A plasma display panel is provided having a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes formed parallel to each other in pairs on a first substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes formed on a second substrate that cross the plurality of first and second electrode pairs. A reset waveform is applied to a scan electrode during a reset period, and a scan pulse that falls from a first voltage level to a second voltage level is applied to the can electrode during an address period. A pre-scan pulse of a third voltage level, which is higher than the first voltage level, is applied to a scan electrode between the reset and address periods, and either a magnitude of the third voltage level or a width of the pre-scan pulse is adjusted according to patterns of subfield data.

  • Publication number: 20050110812
Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) driver and PDP gray scale representation method for applying a sustain pulse based subfield arrangement and address light for representation of gray scales and improving representation performance of gray scales. Inverse gamma correction is performed on input image signals so as to represent inverse gamma correction gray scales corresponding to a number of sustain pulses and address light. The inverse gamma correction gray scale is inverted into a subfield based on the number of sustain pulses so as to represent the gray scale through address light and light caused by the number of sustain pulses.

  • Publication number: 20050083771
Abstract: A PDP driving method for solving misfiring in an address period may include applying, in the address period, an address voltage through a hard switching operation while a low scan voltage is applied to a first scan electrode from among scan electrodes. The address voltage may be applied through an operation by an address energy recovery circuit while the low scan voltage is applied to other scan electrodes. Therefore, since the address voltage is applied through the hard switching operation to generate strong light when the first scan electrode line is scanned in the address period, a discharge success rate may increase, and the discharge success rates of subsequent lines can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20040222949
Abstract: A PDP address data processor, a method thereof, and a recording medium for storing a program used to perform the method. The address data processor generates subfield data corresponding to RGB input video data, divides them into two sets of subfield data, and stores them in a frame memory using rising and falling edges of a reference clock signal of a frame memory. The address data processor reads and arranges the stored subfield data using the rising and falling edges to generate address data for representing gray on the PDP. The address data processor uses an RGB mixing algorithm for selecting two different video data from among the RGB input video data to select video data, and generates the subfield data corresponding to the selected video data.
