Abstract: An optical pick-up actuator having a servo control system with increased stability includes a base, a lens holder mounted on the base to be tiltable about a tilting axis of the lens holder, at least one objective lens being mounted on the lens holder, and at least one groove being formed in the lens holder, and a magnet unit mounted on the base and extending into the at least one groove. Walls of the least one groove facing the magnet unit in a direction transverse to the tilting axis include sloping surfaces providing a tilting margin to enable tilting control to be performed.

Abstract: A tilt controller controlling a tilt of an actuator of an optical pickup based on distortion-free control signals and an optical reproducing apparatus including the tilt controller. A control signal generator generates firs and second control signals to control the actuator. A reference control signal generator generates a reference control signal using the first and second control signals. A driving signal generator generates driving signals for the actuator using the first and second control signals, and the reference control signal. Protection circuits prevent the reference control signal generator from affecting first and second control signals. Accordingly, distortion of the actuator driving signals is eliminated.

Abstract: A tray movement speed control method and apparatus. The method of controlling a tray movement speed includes: receiving tray movement speed setting information through a user interface; receiving the tray movement speed setting information from the user interface through a host interface; and setting a tray movement speed according to the received tray movement speed setting information. According to the method and apparatus, by allowing a user to adjust a loading speed set when a product is shipped, tastes and sensitivities of individual user groups may be satisfied and degradation of the recording and/or reproducing performance of a disc due to abnormal loading of a disc may be prevented.
