Abstract: A colored or colorless nail varnish containing, in a varnish solvent system, a film-forming substance, a resin and a plasticizer as well as a combination of (i) 0.05-5 wt % an amino or thio silicone and (ii) 0.05-5 wt % of an organofluorinated hydrocarbon compound, the total weight of (i)+(ii) being at most 5 wt % of the total weight of the varnish. The varnishes have an improved drying time.

The use of said compounds as amphiphilic compounds, the method of preparing them, and the cosmetic compositions containing them are also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cosmetic composition in the form of a compact powder comprising a fatty phase and a pulverulent phase, said pulverulent phase comprising a first incompactible filler and at least a second filler which may be compactible or incompactible, these two fillers being of different types. The composition preferably has an internal porosity of greater than 2 m.sup.2 /g. The composition is obtained by preparing an oil-in-water type emulsion of the fatty phase in an aqueous phase, dispersing the pulverulent phase in the emulsion, casting the dispersion obtained in a mould, and freeze drying the dispersion.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of a melanic pigment of small particle size and its use in cosmetics. The subject of the present invention is a process for the preparation of a melanic pigment of very small particle size in which 100% of the particles have a particle size smaller than 1.mu.m, consisting in dissolving a melanin of natural and/or synthetic origin in an aqueous medium containing at least one alkalifying agent and/or at least one sequestering agent, and in precipitating the melanin thus dissolved by addition of at least one alkaline-earth metal salt. Another subject of the invention is the use of this pigment in compositions for cosmetic treatments and for dyeing hair.

Abstract: The present application relates to expanded solid compositions whose matrix comprises a cellular network formed from a starch-rich product and contains size-graded spheroidal polyamide particles. These compositions constitute new dosage forms for cosmetic or dermatological use. These compositions take either the form of expanded cylinders, pellets, leaves or flakes, or the form of powder. When reduced to the powder state, these compositions may also be used as pulverulent phase in make-up compositions, in particular make-up powders. They may be stored in the dry state and capable of being partially rehydrated after immersion in water to reconstitute make-up removal or gentle exfoliating compositions for the skin, body, face and/or neck.

Abstract: A silicone oil-based anhydrous cosmetic or dermatological anhydrous composition having a homogeneous fatty phase wherein said fatty phase contains a silicone oil having the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents alkyl having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, aryl or aralkyl,n represents a whole number between 0 and 100, andm represents a whole number between 0 and 100, provided that the sum of n+m is between 1 and 100; and(ii) a wax in an amount ranging from 3 to 50 percent by weight based on the total weight of said fatty phase having a melting point between 50.degree. and 135.degree. C., comprising at least polymer having a molecular weight between 200 and 1,500 and selected from ethylene homopolymers and copolymers, and a monomer having the formula:CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH--R' (II)whereinR' represents alkyl having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, aryl or aralkyl.

Abstract: A homogeneous composition for use in cosmetics and dermatology comprises from 0.1 to 99%, preferably 0.5 to 90% by weight with respect to the total composition weight of at least one organofluorinated hydrocarbon compound or a perfluorinated carbon compound having at least one alcohol, thiol, primary of secondary amine functional group, and from 0.1 to 99%, preferably 0.5 to 70% by weight with respect to the total composition weight of at least one hydrocarbon glycol comprising two hydroxyl radicals.

Abstract: The present invention provides colored and colorless aqueous nail varnishes which contain 10 to 59% by weight of a film forming polymer present in a dispersed state, from 0.01 to 1% by weight of a water-soluble perfluoroalkyl compound and form 40 to 90% by weight of water. The presence of the water-soluble perfluoroalkyl compound makes it possible to provide excellent aqueous nail varnishes with improved spreading properties.
