Publication number: 20240130077Abstract: A multichannel manifold cold plate with microchannels for cooling electronics. A main inlet is on a side of the microchannels opposite the cold plate and includes inlet channels with nozzles adjacent the microchannels. A main outlet is on a side of the microchannels opposite the cold plate and includes outlet channels with nozzles adjacent the microchannels. The inlet channels are interleaved with the outlet channels. In operation, the main inlet delivers a cooling fluid to the cold plate microchannels via the inlet channels and nozzles, and the main outlet receives the cooling fluid from the microchannels via the outlet channels and nozzles. This configuration provides a cooling fluid distribution pattern for efficient cooling of the electronics.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: April 18, 2024Inventors: Qihong Nie, Steven D. Solomonson, Vadim N. Savvateev, Nicholas A. Proite, Myron K. Jordan, Glendon D. Kappel, Elizaveta Y. Plotnikov, Dylan T. Cosgrove, Andrew K. Penning, Sung Moon

Publication number: 20230230852Abstract: A cold plate having a copper base plate and a plurality of fins on the copper base plate. The fins are porous and made by 3D printing a copper-silver alloy on the copper base plate. Alternatively, the fins can be 3D printed and then adhered to the copper base plate with a brazing material. The copper base plate is placed on electronics to be cooled, such as a chip package, using a thermal interface material. An optional manifold can be placed on the copper base plate for circulating a coolant across the fins.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2021Publication date: July 20, 2023Inventors: Elizaveta Y. Plotnikov, Sung W. Moon, Nicholas A. Proite, Myron K. Jordan

Patent number: 10444546Abstract: An optical filter including a polymeric multilayer optical film is provided. The optical film has a reflection band having a reflection band edge that is, independent of location, one of a short wavelength band edge at a short wavelength side of the reflection band and a long wavelength band edge at a long wavelength side of the reflection band. The reflection band edge has a normal incidence reflection band edge wavelength that varies with location and that is a first wavelength at a first location and a second wavelength at a second location different from the first location. The first wavelength may be higher than the second wavelength by at least 2 percent.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2016Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Chad R. Wold, Michael F. Weber, Myron K. Jordan

Patent number: 9415561Abstract: Multilayered polymer films are configured so that successive layer packets can be delaminated in continuous sheet form from the remaining film. The films are compatible with known coextrusion manufacturing techniques, and can be made without adhesive layers between layer packets. The layer packets are individually peelable from the remainder of the film. Combinations of polymer compositions are used to allow non-adhesive polymer layers to be combined such that irreversible delamination of the film is likely to occur at interfaces between layer packet pairs. The films are post-formed, e.g. using heat and pressure, to deform the film from an initial flat or limp condition into a contoured shape that is self-supporting. The contoured shape may comprise regions of simple and/or complex curvature. Despite the permanent contoured shape, individual packets can still be successively peeled away to expose a fresh surface of the next layer packet, having the same contoured shape.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2013Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: 3M INNOVATIVE PROPERTIES COMPANYInventors: Timothy J. Lindquist, Stephen A. Johnson, Onur Sinan Yordem, Myron K. Jordan

Publication number: 20120013851Abstract: A light diffusing optical construction is disclosed. The optical construction includes an asymmetric optical diffuser that scatters light in a first direction with a first viewing angle AH and in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction with a second viewing angle AV. The ratio AH/AV is at least about 2. The optical construction also includes a substantially specular reflector that reflects light that is not scattered by the asymmetric optical diffuser. The substantially specular reflector has a first average reflectance Ro in the visible at a substantially zero incident angle and a second average reflectance R45 in the visible at a substantially 45 degree incident angle.
