Abstract: A secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly, a can, and an insulator. The electrode assembly includes a first electrode, a separator, and a second electrode alternately stacked and wound. The can has an accommodation part accommodating the electrode assembly therein, and the can comprises a first can and a second can having cylindrical shapes open in a direction facing each other. The insulator insulates an overlapping portion between the first can and the second can. The first can is electrically connected to the first electrode, and the second can is electrically connected to the second electrode. The insulator has a short-circuit induction through-part defined by a through-hole or a cutoff line, such that a short circuit occurs between the first can and the second can through the short-circuit induction through-part when it is deformed in shape as heat or a pressure is applied to contract or expand the insulator.

  • Patent number: 7817373
Abstract: A cover assembly of a hard disk drive is provided. The cover assembly includes a cover member with an edge portion protruding a predetermined height from an upper surface thereof, a damping plate disposed on the upper surface of the cover member, and a damper to absorb shocks applied to the edge portion of the cover member, the damper having a support portion disposed between a bottom surface of a border portion of the damping plate and the upper surface of the cover member to support the damping plate, and a protrusion extending upward from the support portion through a gap between the edge portion of the cover member and the damping plate. The protrusion of the damper may have a height that is higher than the edge portion of the cover member, whereby external shocks applied to the cover member are absorbed more efficiently by the protrusion of the damper so that a shock energy transferred to the hard disk drive is minimized.

  • Patent number: 7589935
Abstract: A disk clamping apparatus and method for securing a data storage disk to a spindle motor of a hard disk drive. The disk clamping apparatus includes a flange formed on an outer periphery of a hub of the spindle motor and a clamp. The clamp is provided with a central hollow portion to receive an upper end portion of the hub, and includes a hook for snapping onto the flange along an inner periphery thereof and a pressing portion contacted with an upper surface of the disk for pressing the disk in a vertical direction along an outer periphery thereof. When the clamp is being coupled to the hub, the clamp is deformed so that the hook snaps on the flange, resulting in the pressing portion pressing the disk in the vertical direction, using a resilient force produced from a deformation of the clamp. The clamp further includes a cap formed around the hook to cover the hub.
