  • Publication number: 20090290564
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of supporting network-based mobility for a dual stack terminal are provided. More particularly, a mobile anchor point (MAP) apparatus for binding and data transmission of a dual stack terminal which has moved from a dual network to an Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) network or an Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) network, and a method of implementing the MAP apparatus are provided. If the IPv6, which is a next-generation Internet protocol, begins to be applied to networks, a dual stack terminal supporting both the IPv4 and IPv6 will also be introduced. In an environment in which this dual stack terminal moves, movement of the dual stack terminal to an IPv4-only network or an IPv6-only network as well as movement between IPv4/IPv6 dual networks will be considered. According to the apparatus and method, a MAP used in a conventional network-based mobility supporting method is extended.

  • Patent number: 7525947
Abstract: Inventive embodiments relate to a method and an apparatus for tunneling service of an explicit multicast in a mobile IP network to forward multicast packets to plural mobile nodes with effect. When the apparatus providing the tunneling service for an explicit multicast in a mobile IP network receives a multicast packet from a correspondent node with a network, it extracts mobile nodes existing in a path for tunneling from among the plurality of mobile nodes. Also, after it creates an explicit multicast tunnel header having a destination address as a Co-Located Care-of Address (CL COA) of the mobile nodes existing in the path for tunneling, it tunnels a multicast packet that was encapsulated using the explicit multicast tunnel header to the mobile nodes.

  • Publication number: 20090067360
Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for allocating a multicast connection identifier (MCID) for Internet protocol (IP) packet transmission over a portable Internet network and transmitting packets using the MCID. More specifically, there is provided a method of defining and allocating an MCID for transmitting an IP version 6 (IPv6) multicast packet over an IEEE 802.16/Wireless Broadband (WiBro) network and a process for transmitting an IP multicast packet of a base station (BS) using the MCID. The method of allocating is related to a method of automatically generating a connection identifier (CID) having 16 bits for packet transmission over the IEEE 802.16/WiBro network in order to transmit the IPv6 multicast packet. In this method, a scope value of the IPv6 multicast packet is added to the MCID.

  • Patent number: 7471678
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and apparatus for tunneling service of explicit multicast, to efficiently transmit an explicit multicast of a packet to plural destinations. A tunnel ingress node is receives an explicit multicast packet from a sender terminal, which the explicit multicast packet has to be transmitted to plural addressee terminals. And, after the tunnel ingress node recognizes tunnel egress nodes using plural addresses terminal's address in the explicit multicast packet, it creates a tunnel header comprising transmission destinations based on the list of the recognized tunnel egress nodes. And then, the tunnel ingress node creates a tunnel packet encapsulated with the explicit multicast packet and the tunnel header, transmits the tunnel packet to the tunnel egress nodes. The tunnel egress nodes extract the tunnel header from the tunnel packet, and transmit the explicit multicasting packet to plural addressee terminals using the destination address of the tunnel header.

  • Publication number: 20080013538
Abstract: A method of transmitting a neighbor discovery protocol (NDP) message in an IEEE 802.16/Wibro network is provided. The method of transmitting an NDP message in a sub-network formed with access routers and a plurality of base stations connected to the access router through separate interfaces includes: a first base station transmitting a first NDP message received from a first terminal, to the access router; and the access router transmitting the first NDP message to the remaining base stations excluding the first base station. According to the method, a method of processing an NDP message in an environment having multiple base stations which cannot be considered under a conventional environment using a multicast connection ID (CID) can be improved, and problems that can occur when a IPv6 is introduced in an IEEE 802.16/Wibro network can be solved.

  • Publication number: 20070109997
Abstract: Provided is a mobile IPv6 fast handovers method, which includes the steps of: a) if a mobile node is moved in a layer 2, receiving a modified RS message from a mobile node in the access router, b) detecting movement of the mobile node in a layer 3 in the access router, c) if the mobile node makes a movement in the layer 3, generating CoA of the mobile node in the access router; d) performing Duplicate Address Detection in the access router to inspect uniqueness of the generated CoA; and e) transmitting a modified RA message to the mobile node in the access router. The Fast Handovers method of the present research performs fast movement detection by using layer 2 information simply and efficiently for fast handover in the mobile IPv6 and generates CoA in the access router instead of the mobile node without operations of many additional messages.

  • Publication number: 20070088853
Abstract: Provided is a communication method between an IPv6 mobile node and an IPv4-based correspondent node in a mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) environment, and more particularly, a communication method which can keep communication between a mobile node in an IPv6-based network and a correspondent node in an IPv4-based network, although the mobile node, which communicates with the node in the IPv4-based network, moves to a foreign network. In order to support mobility between the both networks, a DSTM gateway (or DSTM TEP) corresponding to a DSTM border router processes a binding update request received from an IPv6 mobile node.

  • Publication number: 20050083969
Abstract: Disclosed is a communication method using the mobile IPv6 in the NAT-PT environment, and a recording medium storing the method. An NAT-PT (Network Address Translation—Protocol Translation) box as a substitute for an IPv4 node in the communication method performs an RR (Return Routability) process and a BU (Binding Update) process with an IPv6 node to allow data communication between the IPv4 node and the IPv6 node. Therefore, mobility support using the mobile IPv6 is provided in the network with the mixed IPv4 and IPv6.

  • Publication number: 20040243741
Abstract: There is provided a method for transmitting data to a multicast group including a plurality of receivers by using an X-cast mode, comprising the steps of transmitting an X-cast IP data packet having a X-cast header including addresses of a destination router and the multicast group, wherein the destination router is connected to the receivers, converting the X-cast IP data packet to a multicast IP data packet in the destination router and sending the multicast IP data packet to the receivers, wherein an IP header of the multicast IP data has the address of the multicast group. The source router can transmit an IP data packet to a multicast group having a medium or large number of receivers by using the X-cast mode.

  • Publication number: 20020083198
Abstract: A method of automatically generating IPv6 unicast addresses in IPv6-based next-generation Internet communication environments using a telephone number of a E.164 format allocated to a telephone terminal, and a method of looking up 32-bit IPv4 addresses or 128-bit IPv6 addresses, which are previously allocated to name addresses consisted of E. 164 telephone numbers, from a DNS. An automatic creation relates to a method in which an Internet host as a sender of an IP packet creates an IP address and a search from the DNS indicates a process of looking up an IP address of a receiver. The method automatically generates an IP address of a sender based on a telephone number and a search of an IP address of a receiver using DNS.
